Hatch at the back - Again?!

There's something not quite right about this.

It has taken you until ten past 4 to realise that The HITMAN is at the back?

Sounds like Cooper wants to use his heading ability at the back. He played well in that position at Mansfield a few weeks ago.

Sorry Q, I've been nipping in and out.

I haven't slept since yesterday morning as I've been looking after our Jailbreak event.
Plus I've got the rest of the office watching Sky Sports News so it's beating Ray on volume!

Not had chance to see him play there yet but I'd have thought his biggest asset would be his distribution which is where we've struggled

Can't see it being permanent tho as I know cooper is keen to bring another defender in.

cooper has said though that he can see hatch carving out a career as a centre half .

What's wrong with his perfectly good career as centre forward?

So copper thinks we have been playing him in the wrong position up front well not scored many goals for us this season. What is wrong with hatch playing centre half if he is doing a good job there no reason to change.

I think his comments are more that he could make it as a centre half rather than he will be transformed into one.
It has been a good find for us as it gives us additional options strengthening our options on the bench as well as the starting line up.

Hatch is a journeyman centre forward at best, hence why he never got a look in at Peterborough. Could have an ok career around Div 2 / Conference for years to come. What Cooper is saying, I think, is that he could go higher if he develops as a centre half.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was his dad's (Terry) idea. He will have left Coops with a few options to try from his 3 games watching from the bench & Directors box. He's back in Spain at the moment but it's good to see that he adds some extra vision for the manager.

Could Hatch be the answer to our defensive problems since Hone is probably going back in January?

3 goals this season isn't exactly earth shattering. I remember in the early seventies (Don't know if its been mentioned before) Sunderland signing a striker from Rotherham. Bob Stokoe moved him to centre half and the rest is history. Dave Watson won his F A cup medal and 65 England caps and played several seasons in the top flight.
It might yet turn out to be a masterstroke and not a move of desperation by cooper.

Another thing to think about is that Hatch himself is on loan (although I believe we have the option to extend it in January). What do Peterborough think about us using him (and possibly further developing him) as a defender? Do they have a say in the matter?

I doubt they give a toss as long as we've paid them the reddies for his loan spell. He's not been wanted there for a long while but because of the ridiculous contracts they were handing out then and the money they wanted for a permanent deal they were stuck with him for 3 years. I'd imagine that through the various loan fees they've been paid for him they've probably recouped his wages and he'll be released when his contract expires in the summer.

I'd say that more of a bearing would be how Hatch himself feels about playing there, from what Cooper has said in the media he is enjoying the challenge at the moment.
