At about 5.15, driving out towards the A1 on the A66 just past the Arena there was somebody laid out in the 2nd layby in a very bad way. I think there were 3 cars there and a number of people helping. As we got to the Reg Vardy roundabout 2 ambulances drove out towards the A1 ( the wrong way ) then turned round and headed back.
It looked serious, I hope the medics got there in time.

Re: Nasty looking incident after today's match
We were discussing the game on the way home, as we drove past everyone went silent for the rest of the trip. We must have been there just before you as there were 2 cars and I didn’t see the ambulances but we did see someone giving an elderly gent a heart massage, the person helping out seemed like a pro but it still didn’t look good at all.
Now is not the time to cry
Now’s the time to find out why
I think you’re the same as me
We’ll see things they’ll never see
Darlo’s going to live forever!

Thanks for the info. I drove past there today and wondered what had happened and if things were OK.

There's an article in today's Echo about the bloke. Air Ambulance helped take him to hospital, where he is recovering.
