Re: What's your favourite movie?
A three-way tie between
„Triumph Des Willens“
Броненосец «Потёмкин»
and
“Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey”
(The latter being, along with “The Godfather”, better than the original.)

Re: What's your favourite movie?
First time I saw The Usual Suspects, it was the version with the 6ft Kenny Everett hands pointing towards the person that "dun it". Subsequently, I've never seen that "hint" in any other version.Ash_Quaker wrote:The Usual Suspects or The Shawshank Redemption
Can't pick a favourite, but Mississippi Burning is unmissable, as Gene Hackman is usually good value in a film.
And if you like that one, then In The Heat of the Night should float your boat, too - Rod Steiger and Sidney Poitier.
And basically any film with Anthony Hopkins in . . . Shadowlands is brilliant
And for a bit of childhood escapist nostalgia, ya can't beat The Duke in "The Alamo"
So many good films, but my personal turkey is Independence Day (puts head below the parapet) . . . "Here I am Mr President!!!". Just f**k right off!!!
What's your favourite movie?
Vanilla sky for me, triumphs despite having Tom cruise in it!

K-pax. Love the "is he, isn't he?" thing going on. (An alien, not gay)
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

Without realising it, I think V for Vendetta has become my favourite film.
I could watch it any day

Re: What's your favourite movie?
Loads to choose from, but I'd include Coppola's The Conversation, Cul de Sac by Roman Polanski, Taxi Driver, and Terminator II (seriously). Most Hitchcock films as well, but particularly The Birds and North by Northwest.
Re: What's your favourite movie?
Zulu for me. Timeless classic.

The Big Sleep plus loads more from that era. Also like a couple of Johnny Depp movies: Dead Man & Ed Wood. But no one particular movie that I could watch over and over.
One film I'd like to watch again - Jacob's Ladder - only saw it once. One of those movies you need to watch without knowing the ending and, apparently, the uncut 18-rated version is the one to watch, not the hacked to bits 15 version.

Strangely enough, another shout in this thread for Terminator 2 from me. Most people think this is ironic but I love that film and back it all the way as being genuine classic.
I don't really have a favourite but it would be out of; Terminator 2, Thin Red Line, Seven Samurai, Star Wars Empire Strikes Back, The Fountain, Blade Runner, Taxi Driver, Vertigo and Inception.

Re: What's your favourite movie?
Ah, more votes for Blade Runner and Vertigo from this corner. I thought the first 45 minutes of Inception were mindblowing, too, then the plot became unwatchably complex. I had the Wikipedia plot summary open on my lap while I was watching it.fat tony wrote:Strangely enough, another shout in this thread for Terminator 2 from me. What do you mean "says it seriously"? Cool Runnings is an excellent film. Of course he's serious.tdk1 wrote:mrcoops1984 wrote:Cool Runnings !!!

Good shout. Six of us went to the hong kong sevens in fancy dress as the baseball furies - we're all a bit obsessed by that film!cwisstoffhur wrote:The Warriors

Whoever said the thin red line above knows the score though - all time favourite film, beautiful piece of work.
Re: What's your favourite movie?
I'm going to be boring and predictable and say Godfather Part II.
Re: What's your favourite movie?

Re: What's your favourite movie?
Great film. Having seen that, it was great to get the Subway to Coney Island and see The Wonder Wheel a few years ago, and then spot a big red W painted on a wall on the way back! "Warriors Warriors come out to play"! PS2 game was good as well.cwisstoffhur wrote:The Warriors

Re: What's your favourite movie?
My favourite films have already been mentioned, Goodfellas and Terminator 2. I remember watching Terminator 2 at the pictures and it was jaw dropping, several years ahead of it's time, and still stands up today.
Favourite bits - "I need your boots, your clothes, and your motorcycle - you forgot to say please"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYOoWCv_PYE
And when Sarah Connor comes across Terminator 2 in the mental institution "No. Nooooooooooooo!"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuiJBeC8 ... re=related

Has there ever been better 3 minutes of action in a film than the build up to the 'hasta la vista baby' bit?... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... And can't find it but love the 'your foster parents are dead' scene where T1000 has poked his finger through the milk carton and his step Dad's throat.
All those effects still stand up 20 years on as well. Class.
Re: What's your favourite movie?
Cool Runnings is fucking ace
Re: What's your favourite movie?
Goodfellas is another favourite - probably 2nd for me. One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and Shawshank Redemption are up there too.
