Just downloaded Chvrches album after hearing "Lies" on the radio last night, fantasticfat tony wrote:Spyman wrote:Well, Savages and Disclosure have both made the shortlist. I reckon Chvrches are worth a punt at 18/1 before their album comes out, all their stuff so far has been quality. Would have gone for Foals but 4/1 feels short. Not keen on either record but I reckon Savages and Disclosure are good value as there's loads of buzz around them.

Chvrches still not out for another week, looking forward to it. Good to see Jon Hopkins make that list - quality record. Listening to a lot of electronic music recently like that. F*ck Buttons and Maya Jane Coles are another couple of good ones.

A band from Barnsley (excluding the guitar player who is Eaglescliffe) called 'Exit Calm'.
Just released their second album ' The Future Isn't What It Used To Be'
One of the best 'undiscovered by the masses' bands in the country.
The song 'The Rapture' is one of the best songs I've heard in the last 5 years.

No problem ,just spreading the word. If you get the chance to see them live, do it, the word 'mindblowing' is the word I'd best use to describe their gigs.DL5 wrote:Just listened to that and it's not bad at allGow9900 wrote:A band from Barnsley (excluding the guitar player who is Eaglescliffe) called 'Exit Calm'.

If you like - quirky off the wall well written pop songs, with harmonies and unusual lyrics, similar to the best of XTC/Beatles then check this LP out.
A Terrible Beauty by The Uncle Devil Show. (2004)
The Uncle Devil Show being Kevin McDermott, his brother Jim (drummer) and Justin Currie, all successful Scottish pop stars! On this album they work under alias's so that they can let loose and be a bit daft.
It really is a brilliant unknown about gem. On Spotify too.

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and the Consiprators - Apocolyptic Love.
Absolutely love this album - specifically tracks Standing in the Sun and Anasthasia - Slash can still rock and produces great riffs and solos as per usual

One for the old 'uns. Rockin The Fillmore by Humble Pie. I've just got the new 4 CD box set that features all four live shows that were recorded to make what is probably one of the top 3 live albums ever made. In my opinion only Slade Alive and The Who Live at Leeds are better.
