The Boxing Thread
Re: The Boxing Thread
Absolutely right
Haye underestimated Bellew the first time around, but he was still well ahead before the injury.
Bellews power is overrated too, he’s never been a particularly big bitter whereas we all know Haye has that one punch power. He may not have the speed and agility that he had six or seven years ago but he still has that power.

Re: The Boxing Thread
Well, Bellew producers the shock again. Clearly Haye is more shot than most thought. I’d be surprised if we see him back in the ring after that.
More disappointed that Haye was the final leg of my accumulator and cost me nearly £800 for a £5 stake
I wouldn’t be surprised if Bellew called it a day too. He’ll find it hard to get his body back down to Cruiserweight and the top heavyweights in the division will be too big and strong for him.

Re: The Boxing Thread
I didn't see the fight, but from what I've read it seemed to be a bit of a mismatch, which came as quite a surprise. I'd expect both Haye and Bellew to call it a day. But they both earned a fair wedge from these two fights, which will help to soften the blow.
Re: The Boxing Thread
Surely Bellew must fancy another pay day?.I see Stuey Hall is up for a fight with Gavin McDonnell next month.

He will probably face the winner of Usyk-Gassiev and get crushedSussex07 wrote:Surely Bellew must fancy another pay day?.I see Stuey Hall is up for a fight with Gavin McDonnell next month.
Few good fights on the Hall card. Really looking forward to that one. Lawrence Osueke has only had two fights but having seen him in the gym I honestly believe he could do well in the sport.

Thanks for the info, I'll be watching that fight, but not expecting a happy outcome for Stuey Hall.
Re: The Boxing Thread
Great fight last night too
Lomachenko stopping Linares to become a three weight champion in twelve fights.
Best in the world now for me isn’t in doubt

Not heard that news, great chance for Eubanks to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.Sussex07 wrote:George Groves dislocated shoulder from the Eubanks jnr fight put's him out the WB series final with Callum Smith.Eubanks to take his place.
Re: The Boxing Thread
Likely to be announced in the next few days. Makes a mockery of the whole tournament for me. George is the middle super-middleweight in the world so this sort of devalues what has been excellent so far.
Off to Leeds soon for the Warrington Selby fight

Re: The Boxing Thread
Any promising Darlo lads too watch out for in the future Doddsy?
Re: The Boxing Thread
Troy Williamson is probably the stand out name. Having seen him up close he’s got a bright future if he stays focused
There are a few in the North East worth watching apart from the obvious two (Ritson and Kelly)
Lawrence Osueke has only had a couple
Of fights but I very much like the look of him
Tom Hill from Redcar I used to work with
Joe Maphosa who i train with is one I like the look off too

Re: The Boxing Thread
Fury returns this weekend. Hopefully he gets a few rounds under his belt which is what he needs. Undercard isn’t too bad either.

Re: The Boxing Thread
Well Fury didn't impress on Saturday night, don't think AJ will be losing much sleep after that performance.
Re: The Boxing Thread
What did you expect from a man who has lost seven stone in a few months, hasn’t fought in three years and has suffered depression and anxiety for long periods?
Give him another couple of tomato cans and then maybe a Manuel Charr in December. It will be another 18 months at least before he’s ready for Joshua or Wilder.
Bellew seems to think he would take him. He wouldn’t.

Re: The Boxing Thread
The fight was awful and shouldn't have even been on TV as the main event. The Ali shuffle was about the best thing he did!!!Doddsy wrote:What did you expect from a man who has lost seven stone in a few months, hasn’t fought in three years and has suffered depression and anxiety for long periods?

Re: The Boxing Thread
No one should have expected it to be anything other than a glorified sparring session for Tyson. I expect a step up in terms of opposition and fitness in the next couple of fights.
Looking forward to Saturday night in Newcastle.

Re: The Boxing Thread
Stuey Hall can be proud of his career .Ex World Champ..What about Jamie Mcdonell ? stopped in 1st round.

Re: The Boxing Thread
To be fair to Jamie he was fighting one of the best fighters in the world and had obviously struggled big time to make the weight. He’s going up two divisions now which tells you how hard it was.
Stuey can be proud of his career if he does call it a day. Achieved far more than he should have done with his talent which he will admit himself
That night in Leeds was one I’ll never forget
Did you see any of it last night? Ritson was outstanding again. The atmosphere was fantastic for his fight and then fell on its arse for the Kelly fight.

Re: The Boxing Thread
Hope Stuey decides to retire now, he's looking his age and it would be very sad if he became a punchbag for up and coming fighters. Ritson looked the real deal, it's great to have two northeast fighters challenging for world titles.

Who's up next ..too early for Crolla?Doddsy wrote:To be fair to Jamie he was fighting one of the best fighters in the world and had obviously struggled big time to make the weight. He’s going up two divisions now which tells you how hard it was.

Re: The Boxing Thread
I’d like to see him in with someone like Tommy Coyle. Then maybe a Ricky Burns. I can’t see Crolla taking that fight as it wouldn’t really make sense for him at this stage of Crollas career.

Re: The Boxing Thread
Quite a lot of people raved about Joshua's performance, but I thought he did nothing more than ok.
