uk timings for world cup next year

Post by quakerray » Tue Oct 15, 2013 6:52 pm

if we get to the world cup next year, there will be some late nights.
brazil is 4 hours behind us so,
to watch in the uk the times will be.
group matches, will kick off at 5pm, 8pm, 11pm and, er, 2am.
Round of 16/Quarter-finals: 5pm and 9pm
Semi-finals: 9pm
Match for Third Place: 9pm
Final: 8pm

handy for me as I finish at 5, not sure about staying up till 4am though.

To be fair there is only 1 game kicking off at 2am

And it's the 3rd and 4th seeds playing against each other in Group D
And it is Saturday night/Sunday morning!

That is going to be a long stint of football on weekday evenings over the summer!

Manaus and Cuiabá are five hours behind BST.

Which means the "2 am" game is at 3 am.

Plus another 3 hours in the summer for me :(

Hope we get lucky and get some of the earlier kick-off times in the group stage.

Is it not Team 3 v Team 4, rather than based on the seeding?

And given England are "team 4" in any group they end up in

(Assuming Mexico and Uruguay qualify)

Pot 1.

Brazil
Spain
Argentina
Germany
Switzerland
Colombia
Uruguay
Belgium

Pot 2.

USA
CostaRica
Honduras
Mexico
Iran
Japan
Australia
South Korea

Pot 3.

5 African teams
Chile*
Ecuador*
European runner-up no. 4**

Pot 4.

Netherlands
Italy
England
Russia
Bosnia
top 3 European runners up.

* Chile and Ecuador are drawn in groups with European seeds.
** European runner up 4 is drawn in a group with a CONMEBOL seed.

So. England v Ghana in the middle of Saturday night / Sunday morning then!

There you go children.

That's what happens when you rely on Wikipedia!

They had the "late" game in Amazonia kicking off at 22:00, making it 3.00 am the following morning in the UK.

FIFA, meanwhile, kick off at 21:00.

2.00 am here.

Oh well.

Are maybe you are right. Didn't realise that the 'rest of europe' ended up in Pot 4.
