I love cricket but this is a RL Thread, so start a Cricket one !
I enjoyed watching Boycott because he was a master of boredom and I can watch the last 20 mins of a "hit out or get out", but 5 days of prod prod poke does nothing for me.
I do not get covering up v spinners. 2 paces down the pitch and WHACKEM !!!!!!!

There's a cricket thread further down this MB. Have to admit I love watching Chris Gayle, there's never a dull moment when he plays.

That poster only joined to post that nonsense. Must be very bored to find their way to this thread! Pleased to see Widnes into the next round but they would have benefited from a home one.

Yes it'll be tough away at Wakefeld, hopefully they'll make a bit of money from the tie.

The way the cup draw is sorted out now is totally in the hope, and to be as sure as they possibly can, that the top few teams get to Wembley to make sure the ground is filled.
Always had a soft spot for Widnes as a kid because they always played in the same strip as Darlo did,(White, black, white), and as a younger man they were always the side KR had to beat to win the cup or league when we were top dogs in the league
When we are now in round 6 I think it is totally wrong that the top sides only have to win 3 games to be in the final. The likes of Thato Heath, Normanton and a few others in the grass roots game run up to 20 junior sides every week and people work like hell to keep them going. 1 game against Wigan or the like would set them up for a couple of years. It is far more important that clubs like that keep going rather than we worry about the top of the game and bring in New York straight to the top table.

On the draw, I was told yesterday morning we were going to Salford and that Bradford had Leeds at home. About an hour before the draw was made I was messaged to say Donny were going to Cats and that Wakey had Widnes.
4 from 8 is pretty good if it was guess work !!!!!

RL should remember that a lot of their youth players have come through grass roots RL teams, even more than football and if they ignore or belittle what these do clubs do for RL, then RL will only be the loser.

Wow that was a close run thing for Castleford, can't say I fancy our chances of beating St Helens tomorrow. At least I'll be watching the footie and I can fast forward through the Rugby later on.

Now me, in the last few years with all the cheating in football, I have gone the other way. Watch the rugby and clips from football!!!

Setting off in half an hour. Will seem odd turning left onto the main road out of my house for an away game as most of them I turn left and aim for Carlisle first.

Guts churning hard now. It really is not easy being the only member of 1 club when your entire family support the other city side.
Makes me laugh when I hear of the "rivalry" with St's and Wigan etc I know of inter club marriages, where they have not spoken to each other all week.
KR have sold over 6,000 tickets so if the Dullers turn up it should be a good atmosphere.

RRTR.

Stopped in Boro for a coffee with family on the way home.
In 64 years never been so ashamed to be a KR fan.

Nothing to do with what happened on the pitch. Some times, even in derbies, you have to just suck it up.

No place in sport for louts throwing booze, bottles flares and God knows what else in amongst their own fans. At least 2 wheelchair fans hit and 1 had blood streaming down his head. We just had no way of getting out of it.
Hope to God no kids were hurt. I have had friends message me saying they will never go back to the KCOM, but the ground has nothing to do with it.

THUGS.
Every 1 of them.

The game? Doesn't matter after what happened in the stands.

That's really sad news, didn't think such things happened in RL. Well Wigan were expectedly thumped by St Helens. The big surprise was Warrington being beat at home by Salford.

When we played the derby at Wembley in 1980 for the cup 80,000 fans travelled together in trains busses and cars and there was only 1 arrest. A drunken Wigan fan. Not 1 person from the city was in any way a problem.

Over the last few years it has crept in. A few odd spats here and there. At the Million £ game v Salford in 16 their fans were drunk before even getting to CP and caused a lot of trouble.
At Blackpool in the big bash bad management caused a problem in that Featherstone and us had the same stand and we played straight after them. Some of our fans came in while Feath fans went for a drink and there was bother when they came back.(The 2 biggest ticket sellers playing 1 after the other and fans in same stand. A recipie for trouble if ever there was 1).

Never ever seen anything like yesterday and we can't even blame anyone else. Simply KR fans who could not handle the loss and boozed up.

It's not been newsworthy by the looks of it as I've tsearched and can only see old stuff with horses on the pitch. It's a bit like Darlington, usually very peaceful then on the odd occasion it kicks off like at Fylde and you can't reason with drink/drugs though some of us tried!!

Don't know why not but it is a club statement about the trouble on Friday.

Was too ill to travel yesterday so listened on the radio.

100 points put on us in 2 games and another 6-8 week injury. Only 14 MAX "fit" players expected for Leeds on Sunday so going to be a long worrying week.

Never happy to miss a game Pete home or away, though I have had to drop a couple of the away games on Thursday and Friday night this season because of the travel time affecting my health. I am simply too old to be awake at 4am as is the norm and be getting home about 22-23 hours later having had a long tiring drive.

It's sad to hear that Joe Wardill from Hull KR has had to retire at 21, due to persistent hip problems. Was he playing in the first team Ed?

Joe coulda, woulda, shoulda been a very good player by now. Been with the club from age about 7 via 1 of our junior affiliated clubs.
Broke into the first team about 3 seasons ago but has only managed about 20 games because of this recurring problem.
He is right to retire as it was obvious they could not fix it completely despite various operations and seeing quite a few joint specialists.

Everyone is glad the club have found a role for him that both keeps him inside the club as assistant coach to our women's team, who played their first match just last week.
He is also to work in the community for the club going round schools etc both lecturing, giving coaching time and also looking for local talent.
His last role is to be a match day ambassador within the various private bars we have.

Not as good as playing, but he will have a job for life, and I think the amount of different work the club have found for him should both keep him interested and also shows how highly thought of he is round the place. A thoroughly nice kid.

Wow 11 fit players. This is the difference between the big 4 clubs and the rest. The big clubs have youth players that can come in and do a more than adequate job in the first team. Where as sides like Castleford have good first team squads, but they don't have the depth of the big sides or youth players that can make an immediate impact into the first team. There is always a bias in that the best youth prospects will nearly always go to the bigger clubs, a bit like football.

Big game on Saturday night as far as this MB goes, as Wigan host Castleford. Good to see that Sarginson and Powell will be available for Wigan.

We have some very good youngsters coming through. The problem is that we have no pack because of the injuries. Players having to play in the pack that simply are not heavy enough and are being walked over by guys 30-40 klo's more weight. Bringing kids into that does them and the club no good whatever, but we have had to do it.

It still annoys some of us that Dull were given a SL licence over us and it took us 10 years to get into SL. At the time we were by far the bigger club, but from simply a financial stand point the gap that grew then has never been narrowed.

As to those ruddy middle 8's, whoever thought that 1 up wants shooting, and he is the only 1 of the 12 chairmen that still thinks they were a good idea.

Reason I have said those things is that there are far more than 1 reason for the state of the game as it is now Pete. Self interest of a few clubs being a big factor.

Leaving KR aside, Cas is a great example. If you go there early on match days they have literally hundreds of kids playing mini rugby and the same number of girls with pom poms etc. Ground packed every game, but even they struggle to keep up with the few.
Sorry Pate but Wigan are the perfect example of the other side of the coin. Turn up there an hour before the game and .... Nothing !!!!! Yet as you say, they prosper because of being a "big" club.
Sadly I remember the days we were top dogs in the country. SL finished that !!!!
