I think the game is naturally going more international & some of the teams with smaller populations are going to increasingly struggle. What channel is the Wigan testimonial on?

As far as I know Wigan are not on. Leeds v Bradford is on for 2 reasons. 1, Jamie Jones is working for the media now so that causes interest and 2, the Rob Burrow news is in everyone's minds.

Can't believe it.
Lost 18-6 in a poor game that neither side wanted to give any secrets away because of the first game in 2 weeks

Lost 2 players to injury

Weller Hauraki down with an ankle injury no idea how bad.

Really worrying,
Mose Masoe neck injury. Taken ho hospital as he can not feel his legs.
I spoke to a couple of players as they were leaving some 2,1/2 hours after Mose was hurt and he still had no feeling whatever.

Obviously not good for the club but just praying it is just bruising that has caused a temporary block to the nerves. 1 of the best Aussie imports we have had in the last 10 years.

Very bad news re' Mose.

Had surgery during the night on his neck/spine.

May spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

Blimey that's terrible news, lets hope the prognosis isn't as bas as it sounds. You have some terrible luck with injuries.

He is in an induced coma and going to be kept like that for a few days at least.

All we can do is pray.

Yet again the rugby family comes together. I was in touch with the club over something else today and was told that messages and all sorts of offers from clubs all round the globe have been hitting hitting KR today.

According to the following link, he has regained consciousness & things are sounding a bit more positive.

This sounds like bonkers about a new structure for promotion from the Championship & Division 1.

I see Wire's marquee signing Gareth Widdop has got injured & will miss the first 3 games of the season, including their season opener at Wigan. Gutted for him, but at least Wigan will benefit!!

The latest release on Mose.

Hull Kingston Rovers owner Neil Hudgell has spoken to BBC Radio Humberside’s David Burns on the condition of prop Mose Masoe, who suffered a serious spinal injury at the weekend.

“What looked like an innocuous challenge, something you see on the field 50 times a year, has turned into something significantly more serious.

“Mose is a giant of a man in many respects and a much-loved character around the club with a huge smile on his face, and is hugely respected. For him to stay down and not to move was a sure-fire sign that things were not quite right.

“Mose has had surgery to relieve pressure on his spine, and the initial prognosis is positive. The surgeon was happy with the outcome of the surgery but with that type of injury, it is a long, slow road to recovery.”

Due to the nature of the injury the club are unable to give a definitive report on when Masoe will return. Mose has been encouraged to rest and focus on his rehabilitation process.

“There will not be anything definitive for a long time. The injury is causing a lot of angst and distress to everybody at the club and everyone within the game has expressed much love and support. We will do our best to support Mose and his family, and hope for the best outcome.

“Mose is very much a family man. He has two beautiful girls aged six and four, and his wife is having another baby in July and they are at the centre of his first thoughts.

“Having seen him in hospital, he is a very inspirational character – he is laid down with a smile on his face asking how everyone else is, how the boys are getting on. Our focus is restoring Mose as much as we can.

“It is a very tight playing group – but nothing like as tough as it is for him at the moment.

“The support that Mose have had from the rugby league community, along with the Just Giving page, has seen everyone show their love to him. Any funds that are raised will be given directly to Mose’s family to help with any travel needs, accommodation, and any care needs.

“We are over £10,000 now and we are only at day three – we are going to carry on with the fundraising. Other clubs have offered to put on fundraising events and we are looking to accept those offers of support, which is a reflection of Mose’s popularity within the game.

“It is a one-in-a-million injury that has happened but it is something that Rugby League has looked at and said ‘It could have happened to any of us.’ There are examples and occasions of a serious injury like this in the sport but thankfully they are few and far between.

“I want to reiterate how fabulous it was to see everyone deal with Mose from the moment that he went down to where we are at today. We are very proud of all of the staff.

“I understand Mose is in a stable condition to be moved, subject to the availability of a bed, and in the medium-term to Pinderfields Hospital, where it will then be a wait-and-see exercise.

“We are dealing with this week-by-week, it is raw for everyone. We need to assess the situation, provide the support Mose needs and see the bigger picture as it unfolds.

“There were some big grown men in a real state afterwards due to their relationships with Mose. We all need to look after each other but the bottom line is nobody is struggling as much as Mose.”

Latest news on Weller. He had surgery on his ankle yesterday and is out for at least 2 months, so last seasons POTY and our new skipper misses at least the first 7 matches !!!!

From another player, Mose can feel his toes but he is in a full body cast and not allowed any movement whatever. As said, his surgery "went well", but as yet they do not know if he will walk again.
We can certainly forget seeing him on a rugby pitch this season.

Being clinical I would hope the club are already asking the RL if we can do as Cas did last year when Gale was injured and take Mose off the wage bill.

His family who have come over from Auss have arrived in Hull, which is nice. It will make life easier for them when he is moved to Pinderfields as you can't just nip back to Hull for a shower and change of clothing from Leeds.
Great that the benevolent society are picking up their entire bill for however long they need to stay, and also the crowd fund is growing. £100 from Rob Burrow's family has touched everyone.

Yes just read the BBC article about him. Really sad news for him & his family & you'll find him very hard to replace at this late stage of the pre-season.

The World Cup draw has been made & the opening ceremony is at St James Park, with England playing Samoa.

The problem that the rugby world cup has, is that they're are only 3 teams that have the potential to win the world cup & that is England, New Zealand & the overwhelming favourites Australia. For a strong tournament you need a tournament were the potential winners number more than 3 & the rest of the teams have just been added to make up the numbers.

Samoa will be good. Winners? I doubt it, but they will be a real danger first game.
Looking forward to seeing how some of the lesser teams get on. The game needs to grow and attract a larger audience. Not only in this country but worldwide. This will certainly help so to my mind, bring it on.

You going to any games Pete? I have pre ordered all Englands games + those at Kingston park.

By the way, for once, the RFL got it spot on. The stream of the draw and some of the info given out was top class.

4 days to go to our big kick off and I can hardly be bothered.
Still feeling sick in my guts about Mose's injury.
Have to say, people/businesses, charities, they have all been brilliant.
People, .... The amount of charity nights for Mose with all the gifts for raffles is amazing, and not just in Hull, but Leeds, Sheffield and Liverpool,(via St Helens).
Businesses such as Betfred have doubled their man of the match EVERY GAME of the season and half going to Mose with half to Rob Burrow.
Charities, .... The Steve Prescott foundation have given 10 grand towards Mose's family bills via the benevolent fund.

We are expecting about 8500 on Friday night and it is estimated that over 5,000 have bought curly black hair wigs to show support. The local paper are doing a head count and will give £1 for everyone they count.

Still hard to get up for the game.

Actually Ed it is only 3 days before Wigan kick-off the season at home to Warrington. it's great to see that Mose & his family will be looked after. It's at times like this you realise that the whole sport will pull together for one of their own.

Re read Pete I said 4 days to OUR kick off. !!!!!

When a guy of 32 years of age with a pregnant wife and 2 young daughters comes halfway round the world to entertain and earn a living, and winds up never being able to walk again,(at very best. At the moment he still has no movement in his fingers.(We don't know about his arms as they are in a body cast)) I think it is only right and proper the world come together to help in every way they can.

We have this sad issue of Mose so soon after Rob Burrows, and while Rob's are not rugby linked for all the joy he gave fans he also deserves al that can be done to help.

Agree with Rob good luck to everybody. At this stage we can all dream of winning the league leaders shield & winning the grand final. But in reality there are probably 3 or 4 sides that have a realistic chance of winning both competitions. The big unknown is Toronto.

Also echo the good luck to everyone.
Pete, bluntly, with 3 of our most experienced players out long term added to the leftover still not fit from last year if we make 11th place safe with a month to go most of us wil call it a successful season. My big hope is Udders do not seem to have done a lot to improve a very poor side, and Wakey seem to be on the slide, which makes Friday massive.
Toronto. ..... Where to start !!
I was in favour of bringing them into our game after I talked to a few club insiders when I went over 18 months ago. I am afraid my attitude is changing with the going's on of the last couple of weeks. I will not be at all happy if they suddenly get part of the league pot. To suddenly say they are skint after taking so long to show their finances were sound to get promotion and having splashed 3 million a year on 1 player,(Double what KR are paying ALL our players put together),and to only have 24 players at this point looks very dodgy to me.
Should the RFL actually give them a share of the pot I can see a number of very unhappy chairmen. Both Hudgy and Pearson at Dull have already been rather scathing in their comments about the situation.

Thanks, I didn't know that it's great to see that the club are trying to break down barriers & hopefully they'll be rewarded by interacting with the LGBT community.

Ed I think you'll really struggle. Yes you've recruited plenty of new players, but the quality wouldn't appear to be there. If you recruit 5 players from Championship side Bradford you're going to struggle. I have to admit I have a soft spot for Toronto & I hope they flourish in the Superleague.

Just seen that the Catalan Dragons have signed disgraced Australian Rugby Union star Israel Folau. That should make for an interesting reception for him when they play at Wigan, when they support pride & the LGBT community.

Wigan fans seem to have short memories. I remember Zak Hardaker being banned for homophobic comments.
Should be interesting when he and Folau collide!!!!!!

Personal opinion, I know RL is a great advocate of all inclusive, but so long as it is 2 consenting adults of any persuasion I don't give a damn who anyone beds.
I want to know can they score tries or help stop tries. I simply don't see how news of who they are screwing helps that.

Apparently Wigan only decided to make this a Pride match, when they heard Israel Folau joined Catalan. A good move by Wigan & I'm sure his presence will generate a lot of interest.
