What do you like on TV at the moment?

Post by Darlo_Pete » Thu Jan 21, 2016 10:30 am

Well there lot's to choose from.

TV Series that I'm watching are

Beowolf, a lot of it was shot in Northumberland.
War & Peace, classic adaptation of Tolstoy's famous novel.
Gotham: Rise of the Villans, pre-batman drama series.
Mr. Selfridge, period drama and sadly the last one ever.
Z Nation, end of the world zombie fest.

But my favourite TV Series of the moment is Impractical Jokers, 4 life-long friends do completely daft things, to avoid being the loser at the end of the series. If you like comedy, then you'll love this series on comedy central.

Just getting into Game of Thrones. Didn't think it would be my cup of tea at all but I'm hooked.

Was looking forward to Beowolf, but the acting is so wooden and the script abysmal

Dads Army and All creatures great & small. Not everyones cup of tea perhaps, but any episode always makes me feel better for having watched it when it comes on.

Just started to watch that Making a Murderer on Netflix.

Don't really get the time to sit down and watch much TV though.

Making a Murderer! My daughter got me onto this, and unusually for me I got hooked. I'm up to the final episode now (10) and it's nearly up to date.

For anyone who doesn't know, it's the real life story about iffy evidence and dodgy police officers in a place called Manitowoc county, Wisconsin. The cameras are everywhere, and the courtroom bits are fascinating.

I don't watch much TV these days, but I'm really enjoying Sunday evenings on Channel 4 at the moment: Walking the Himalayas followed by the superb Deutschland 83.

Hands up I watch a lot of telly!

With Netflix and catch up there's so much available nowadays.

I'm watching a lot of foreign stuff at the moment (subtitled) Occupied (Norway), Spin (French) and Jordskott (Sweden); it's finished now but The Reurned (French) was excellent.
The Killing is excellent too (US version is ok but the Danish version is far better).

I know subtitles aren't everyone's cup of tea, I'm also rewatching The Wire.
The Leftovers and Ray Donovan were both very under rated and well worth a watch.

Looking forward to the return of GoT, top notch telly.

I've got the wire as a box set, compelling drama I have to say.

Making a Murderer was fascinating, we watched the whole series in two days. I will never go to Wisconsin!

Agreed, in fact if it wasn't for the Ceefax (everyone but the beeb have binned their teletext), I'd probably dump the TV altogether. Mine is tuned to radio channels more often than the crap on the screen.

Thought it was brilliant, sadly I watched the first series probably in the 70's as well. My only grumble in the new series was that it didn't have many battle scenes and the one's it did have were pretty small scale, compared with the dramatic battle scenes in the original TV series.

I've started watching the new series South from hell, which seems pretty good. In some ways it has the same sort of feel as the first series of True Detective.

First season of True Detective was class too, although the second season wasn't as good. Hopefully the third season will return to form.

That's the first I've heard about a third season, any idea when it will be shown?

Apparently it's been confirmed but no details have been released yet. Season 2 aired last June so the earliest we'll see it will be this summer I reckon, but I'll let you know if I hear anything about it.

Cheers. I agree the first series was better than the 2nd, it was so atmospheric. But the 2nd series was still good.

I've started watching the new series of The 100, which is pretty good, the second episode is tonight. I also enjoyed the first episode of the Night Manager based on a John Le Carre crime thriller book.

Not sure if its just my taste but I struggle with a lot of the 'most recommended' box sets. Prison Break I struggled through two season and gave up, Have tried repeatedly to watch Game of Thrones and just doesn't do it for me, Breaking Bad I did watch all the series but again was not blown away like people seem to be.

I quite enjoyed Making A Murderer but not sure why it seems to have captured the attention the way it has, its quite a story and I do tend to prefer factual stuff, BBC 3 is throwing out quite a lot of decent documentaries at the moment via iplayer. I thought Better Call Saul was decent viewing and as a comedy Catastrophe is decent.

A little surprised no one has mentioned Friday Night Lights the tv series, based on the book and film, probably one of my favourite shows along the box set line.
