It won't be the same without Jenson.

Not for my missus, no, but he didn't cut it for me.Darlo_Pete wrote:It won't be the same without Jenson.
His 2011 win in Canada is one of my favourite races, mind.

Re: Formula 1
He was a great ambassador for formula 1, very approachable and a great driver to boot. He'd have won more than one world title, if he'd had more competitive cars over the years.
Re: Formula 1
You mean if he was in a team that had a huge advantage over other teams at the start of the season because they'd sailed very close to the wind on rules on diffusers?
I like him but he wouldn't be in my top 4, maybe 5, drivers on the 2016 grid.

Re: Formula 1
The driver doesn't matter as much as the car, which is wrong in my opinion, as the best driver should win every time.
Re: Formula 1
Formula 1 has always been about the best constructor.Darlo_Pete wrote:The driver doesn't matter as much as the car, which is wrong in my opinion, as the best driver should win every time.
It can't be about the best driver in the same car as different drivers drive better in different set-ups, which is reliant on teams, hence why the Constructors Championship is where the money is.
You can identify, over a number of years, who are the best drivers and JB hasn't made the cut for me. Better than average but not great.

Can't see anybody but Hamilton winning this years title, especially now Rosberg has left the scene. The battle will be over who comes second.

I'm not certain with the big aero and tyre changes happening this year. I think Red Bull will be involved.Darlo_Pete wrote:Can't see anybody but Hamilton winning this years title, especially now Rosberg has left the scene. The battle will be over who comes second.

I guess it'll become pretty obvious how things will pan out after pre-season testing before the first grand prix in Melbourne.

Indeed, but it's the hardest to call for 3 years.Darlo_Pete wrote:I guess it'll become pretty obvious how things will pan out after pre-season testing before the first grand prix in Melbourne.
Wish they would go back to the noise of V12s

Looks like being the closest championship race for yonks. I still think Mercedes have the edge, but time will tell.

Re: Formula 1
Have to say that I thought it was brilliant to let Alonso go and do the Indianapolis 500 and let Button take his seat at Monaco. I especially liked that Button spoke to Alonso in the pit lane just before the Monaco Grand Prix started, pure theatre. After all the hype around Indianapolis 500 and Alonso's appearance, I watched that race for the first time and Alonso did very well and I'm sure he'll be back next year for another go. Thought it was ironic when his Honda engine gave up near the end.
