Yes the Government wanted feedback on how easy the test was to do & because of our market research background, we were well placed to give that on the process. So wind your neck in Andy.Old Git wrote: ↑Sun May 17, 2020 1:27 pmHope you were part of some sort of official study to provide feedback on testing. If you were just doing it off your own bat you are a complete bellend.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 9:06 pmI've had the Coronavirus Test. It wasn't straightforward & only got the result back yesterday, 11 days after posting the swab, which isn't great. I was only doing the test to give feedback on the process, but surely if you thought you had Coronavirus waiting 11 days is far from ideal.

Behave yourself Pete, you didn’t mention that in your original post did you. You did it for a reaction from others and you got one for the way the post was written.

Surprised it hasn't happened before now, but hopefully this might bring a smile.

Re: Coronavirus.
Big difference from being chucked out of a football ground to taking potentially life saving tests just to give “feedback”

Re: Coronavirus.
Don't know if anyone watched the daily briefing yesterday. I think the medics are beginning to fight back after being thrown under the bus for so long.
- effectively confirmed that the advice was not to lift any measures until track & trace is in place (subsequently confirmed that it wasn't a reliable system right now). Basically the advice now is not to reopen schools until this is in place which seems to be being ignored.
- that they advised to prioritise hospital admissions for testing over track and trace in March because of lack of investment / capacity. Effectively ruling out initial suggestions that the advice was the stop testing at that time full stop. Saying stopping testing was based on medical advice was being quite economical with the truth.
- that the capacity to test is an operational issue not a scientific one - so basically a cost and logistics thing. Other countries have demonstrated that it is possible to set it up inside 48hours but we have so far failed to do so.
I do wonder how long it will be before "lead by science" actually meant that the starting point was the science and then the actual decisions which came next weren't necessarily in line with it...so strictly it was lead but just wasn't followed.

Re: Coronavirus.
As the pandemic continues it seems to be coming clearer than as a country we were badly prepared to cope with it. It is easy to be wise after the event and is not helpful to play the blame game whilst we are still in the middle of it but lessons will have to be learned for the future.
We must ensure we plan much more for any future similar events. Stocks of PPE must be kept at an adequate level and need to be manufactured in the UK.
The ability to test is vital so we need to have the laboratory capacity in place to be able to do so.
Elderly people must not be discharged into care homes without a test.
If these measures had been in place many lives could have been saved. The government has been playing catch-up since this started and we must not be left with our pants down in future.

Re: Coronavirus.
I suspect people can excuse a lack of preparedness for the impacts of this - can't really change that now. Others were better prepared ie. South Korea because they saw SARS as a trigger and invested accordingly to prevent something similar.
What I think people will be less likely to excuse is if day-to-day decisions have not been in line with scientific advice at that time. That certainly seemed to be the suggestions being made yesterday.

Re: Coronavirus.
Sad to here that Wigan Athletic have gone into administration & face the prospect of relegation to Div 1. I hope the football authorities are lenient on Wigan & I'm sure Wigan won't be the last club to go into administration over the summer.
Re: Coronavirus.
The authorities have NOT been lenient. They have said if you get relegated this year off your own bat we will relegate you next year and if you are safe this year we will relegate you now anyway.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 12:43 pmSad to here that Wigan Athletic have gone into administration & face the prospect of relegation to Div 1. They are the first in admin but I know of 3 non league sides that have gone bust because of Covid 19 already.
Re: Coronavirus.
FC Oswestry Town. Broxbourne Borough. Swanwick Pentrich Road FC. Solent University,(formally team Solent).
Plenty more now if you would like to have a bit of a search.
Re: Coronavirus.
Nowhere near as long as you took to put up this response. I not only had flu and gout, I had forgotten of your existence.
Took me 4 days to reply and it took you 17. Yet you say I took my time.
Strange thought pattern.

Looking bad for the north-east, apart from us & Teesside, as restrictions are placed on nearly 2 million people.

Looks only a matter of time before Darlington and Tees Valley follows suit.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 2:01 pmLooking bad for the north-east, apart from us & Teesside, as restrictions are placed on nearly 2 million people.

I'm involved with Coronavirus 19 swab tests & the levels in Darlington are relatively low. I agree with you that it can only be a question of time before the Tees valley follows suit.Old Git wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 2:58 pmLooks only a matter of time before Darlington and Tees Valley follows suit.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 2:01 pmLooking bad for the north-east, apart from us & Teesside, as restrictions are placed on nearly 2 million people.

Good to hear from someone in the know that Darlington is relatively OK but no room for complacency. Re: Coronavirus.
Cheers OG. It's a worry when we are surrounded by areas that have issues & there is still a danger that cases could be imported into Darlo. So as you say there is no room for complacency.

Re: Coronavirus.
Does Trump's stupidity in ignoring social distancing and masks qualify as a pre-existing condition and thereby nullify his health insurance?

Re: Coronavirus.
Looks like we are heading back in to a full lockdown. Not sure if football will continue but if not we will just have to accept it as part of the bigger picture. There are more important things that concern us all right now.

Re: Coronavirus.
I'd be very surprised if football can continue as it is now. Perhaps the Premiership can continue, but everything below that could be forced to shutdown.

It's been announced elite football continues...https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/13 ... 58311?s=19
Re: Coronavirus.
Even if the NLN continues it is hard to believe that the leagues below our level will be completed. The teams in the Evostik Premier all have in excess of 30 games to play with no prospect of a return date. Surely that is going to mean no promotion and relegation between our leagues this season.lo36789 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 8:22 pmIt's been announced elite football continues...https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/13 ... 58311?s=19

Look at the step 5 leagues some teams have played 3 or 4 games this season.Old Git wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:25 pmEven if the NLN continues it is hard to believe that the leagues below our level will be completed. Assuming a restart on 15 February (unlikely) that would mean 34/35 games in 15 weeks.
Re: Coronavirus.
Grim figures today with 1325 deaths. That is an average home crowd for us.

Re: Coronavirus.
The number of people that have sadly passed away will pass 80k today. If the number of deaths doesn't decrease very quickly, there will be more people that have passed away than live in Darlo, very grim news.
Re: Coronavirus.
Sadly the number of deaths in this pandemic will end up in excess of 100,000 for the UK. If you count Excess Deaths ie the number of people who have died in excess of the average number for the last year I am pretty sure that grim figure has already been surpassed.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 7:22 amThe number of people that have sadly passed away will pass 80k today.
