....and this is the band and song they were mocking. Not sure which song I prefer to be honest!

Dandy Warhols - Not if you were the last junkie on earth
Anyone seen "Dig!"?, it's a brilliant watch on these two bands.

Re: The 'what music I'm listening to at the moment' thread
I never tire of watching and listening to this - one of the greatest music videos ever, in my humble opinion. I was talking to our boy, Georgi, and we agreed that the dancing girl on here would make a great housekeeper.

I have this one in mind because I was watching it the other weekend when I took a madcap minibus ride through a long narrow gorge in Armenia (not far from where I live), and it looked remarkably like this video - railway line, steep drops, smoky chimneys, everything.

And I just dug this one out again - I first heard it a few months ago.
The Smiths - no, not those Smiths, this is the first band which was called The Smiths from about 1968. Starts off sounding a bit like Chris Isaak - not a bad song.

Whilst not my usual thing, Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space is a great track.beatroute66 wrote:Recent car CD changer stuff:

Re: The 'what music I'm listening to at the moment' thread
To be honest, none of their records since Ladies & Gentlemen... back in 97/98 have hit the heights of that one or the two before it; Laser Guided Melodies and Pure Phase.
Sweet Heart Sweet Light has it's moments (So Long You Pretty Thing in particular), but it does go through the motions at times and is a bit 'Jason-by-numbers' in places; two chords, gospel choir, heavy bass, lyrics about wanting to be dead or mentioning 'Sweet Lord', 'light', drugs, etc, etc.
That said, still better than the bulk of bands out there today and even if the guy did nothing else ever again I'd still love him for Spacemen 3 and the first 3 Spiritualized albums.

Currently listening to Amarylus by Shinedown on the car CD, good album but some tracks not suitable when 7 year old son is in the car singing along.

Hang on, hang on, if we're going to start picking up on people's choices then let's at least start with this little exchange...

I also can never stop listening to Arctic Monkeys, the Sheffield tones are pure class
Arctic Monkeys though, pure class!
Yeah the monkeys are one of my favourite bands along with Coldplay. The Fratellis should get a mention as well (but only for the Costello Music album)

I saw Two Door Cinema Club at Glasto last year - they were actually very good live I thought, although I've struggled to get in to the album.

Couple of good albums out over the past week or so: Alt-J - Awesome Wave and Liars - Wixiw. Alt-J especially is worth checking out, they're a bit like a more electronicy Fleet Foxes. Ignore the lame hipster name. You can stream the album on their Souncloud page - http://soundcloud.com/alt-j/sets/an-awesome-wave/ 'Something Good' is the highlight for me.
