DTID has it right. Put a relatively low cost/high value prize in place for these sorts of activities and you'll attract more cash while enhancing the community give and tho shalt receive sort of atmosphere we need to generate.

I agree that all those watching the highlights (I admit even as an exile I don't) should donate a quid or two and we'd be sorted, but basic means to an end competitions will generate a lot quickly.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

I agree about competitions but we are half way there based on donations. Might as well continue as we are. Given how essential the highlights are for people like me the prize is having the highlights available and best thing I am guaranteed to win for once!

I am intrigued about the memory issue and would be interested to see what sort of resolution could be found there. How much space does a game require?

you can get 2tb external hard drives on ebay cheap enough.

should have plenty of space on there, depending on what size each game takes up.

A massive well done and thank you for the time you've dedicated so far and there's a tenner here for you - i'll send it to your bank to cut out any paypal fees
I am in pretty much the same position as divas so count me in for a donation too. It will come via Paypal.
Cheers and thanks for all the work you put in for the benefit of the rest of us.

I think my Paypal transaction takes us more or less to the cost of the camera, now just need a little more to cover the batteries.

Well done Kev.

Living in the midlands the highlights are a great way for me to feel that I am involved in what is happening this season. I am in for a tenner via Paypal when I get your details. Keep up the good work.

Just realised I never confirmed my bank account on paypal.... I've started that before I try to transfer the money in. As soon as it's confirmed I'll transfer the money and get the order in.

Maybe if we get a big excess we can buy a club computer or something, which Kev could have access too?

I'm okay for a computer mate. Almost got half the cash sorted for my new mac. I'm just waiting for work to finish their reshuffle and I'll get it bought when I know I'm keeping a job. However if we do have an excess I'll add an external hard drive to the order as well.

Staggered by how quickly we've raised the cash for this. Thanks everyone.

Like I said on email Kev it's a great facility for us fans and something we've never had to this standard ever, £10 for a seasons worth of highlights at least is a bargain compared to what Quaker World charged.

Hi everyone.

Firstly thanks to everyone who has chipped in. Its amazing to think how quickly you've all put your hands in your pockets (and so soon after Christmas). Makes me properly proud to support this club.

We've now got (bar a few more bits and pieces to come in) £413.38 so I think that will do it.

I've placed an order for the camera (although I had to quickly find another supplier as the one I was going to use jacked their price up - provided there is no problems with the new company I've used we've actually got a better deal). So I will use what is left for an couple of extra batteries and an external hard drive so we can start archiving the footage.

Many many thanks again to everyone. Really a top effort.

Why don't you you let the club buy it so they can claim the VAT back? After all, it is for the club's use so they could legitimately claim that money back.

It IS for the club.

However buying it for £400 out of club funds and then claiming the VAT back is still costing the club more than if the fans raise the £400. That costs the club £0.00p

My point was, the money raised could all go to the club and they could have bought the stuff, claimed the VAT back and pocketed the VAT money.

I've bought it tonight as I've managed to snare us a good deal which allows us to get some extra gear however they only had one camera left in stock. It's a discontinued model (god knows why as its ace) so I got bought it before it slipped through our fingers. Everything else I'll get the club to buy so they can claimed the vat back.
