Who is your team after Darlo?
As a City Fan I have followed Darlo as my second team since the early 70s.
I wonder who Darlo fans on here have as a second team,if any?
Just asking.

Wonder if anyone says Hartlepool....
I look out for all northern league clubs if I'm being honest.

Been asked that many times .... But normally when I respond, they say Darlo? But who is your first team tho? ... Ha ha ... In my case it's Darlo and nobody else ..... You can't support two really .... Unless I count Olympiakos .... My mums home "town" club of Piraeus .... (Greece) ... Who I do have a big soft spot for ...

Mine for Darlo came about when they sent me a pile of programmes when I wrote off to them for autographs early 70s and I have watched them whenever I can if City are not playing. My mates all think its funny but I have had some great days following both clubs.

I've always been big fans and followers of both Darlo and Aylesbury united, for almost 20 years when living in Aylesbury I would be watching 1 or the other every week.....I moved to Cardiff 11 years ago but don't get chance to see either since.........Darlo will always be my 1st choice if I get a chance !

It is impossible to support more than one team.
I understand that it is possible to have a "soft spot" for another team, but that's not the same as supporting.

Re: Who is your team after Darlo?
I worked for them about 14 years ago, and seen them play a couple of times, I grew up a Sunderland fan, have watched Newcastle a couple of times, and these days, after Darlo, I like to see North East teams doing well, only team I have a serious hatred for is Middlesbrough...Darlo Till I Die wrote:Wonder if anyone says Hartlepool....

England is the only acceptable answer. Anyone who supports or has a soft spot for any other team is a wanker and shouldn't be allowed to post on this board. It's as bad as them Irish clowns that phone in on 606 supporting Man U, Liverpool, arsenal etc. tossers! The lot of them.

West Ham United for me, had a soft spot for them for years. So if there up here; playing away to Sunderland/Newcastle/Middlesbrough - I'd go along.
Don't support them, just look out for results with taking in a game now & again.
But my real passion & proper support is for Darlo

So if you were born in say Malaysia but support Darlo are you saying I'd have to support England or be a wanker?the_scq wrote:England is the only acceptable answer. For the record I was born in the soviet socialist republic of South Yorkshire and have a soft spot for donny rovers but my money gets spent on Darlo. What a wanker I am
Waiting for Raj to shaft them!

This, I have "soft spots" for quite a few teams. But if they get beat i'm never really bothered.Quakerz wrote:It is impossible to support more than one team.

Re: Who is your team after Darlo?
St Johnstone (I was born in Perth and lived there for my first few years), then Sheffield United as I used to watch them when my brother was at university there way back in the 80's. My first and only footballing love will always be Darlo, as has been said if other teams lose Im not that bothered if Darlo lose then it's a spoilt weekend/evening.
Come on Darlo!

Re: Who is your team after Darlo?
Darlo all the way for me, until I was about 13 I actually supported darlo and newcastle.. But the older I got the more I realised what a set of bell ends toon fans are and eventually grew to dislike them..
Re: Who is your team after Darlo?
I have a soft spot for Blackburn Rovers, enjoyed watching them stick it to Man Utd back in the 90s when I was first getting in to football.
More recently I suppose I look out for Arsenal's results because I have a lot of friends who support them and the missus' family are all Arsenal (her Dad and brother have season tickets). I'm never fussed if they win or lose but probably have more knowledge of them than most clubs, mainly so I can hold a conversation on them.
Other than that, like has been said, I'll look out for results of mates teams, and Millwall are my local club so I look out for them more and more but I've not been to a game or anything.

Blackpool (got family over there) and Leigh Genesis (I had some good runs up the league with them on Football Manager. Went to see them once, at Cantilever Park when they were ground sharing with Warrington!)

Re: Who is your team after Darlo?
I support Darlington.
Additionally, I am a fan of Chelsea (was Christened there - and my Mum's side of the family live there) but I can't say that I am too fussed when they get beaten these days, they epitomise everything that is wrong with the money in the game.
Growing up, my Dad took me to Watford a lot, and my best mate is still a big fan, so I have a soft spot for them and make it to at least a couple of games per season.
And finally Motherwell because that's where my family are from on my Dad's side.

Re: Who is your team after Darlo?
I can understand people who live a long way away from their first team going to watch a game locally and supporting that side aswell as their original team.
But am not a fan of all this I am a fan of Newcastle United and Darlo bullshit

Re: Who is your team after Darlo?
I was well into Newcastle for a time as a kid, but that gradually disappeared down the years.
I had a bit of a soft spot for Sheff Wed during the Rudi/Jonk/Atherton era too, primarily because I thought Wim Jonk was ace.
It's all about Darlo these days though really.

Re: Who is your team after Darlo?
Im a Man united fan. Not ashamed to admit it. All my family are so I grew up being a fan.I spend good money going to watch them so guess that classes me as a supporter. I don't think that affects how strongly I feel for Darlington FC. Im DFC through and through, I have been through everything with the club and I know I feel as much for the club as anyone out there. If we were ever to play United I would want DFC to win as it means more to me

Re: Who is your team after Darlo?
I used to live near Derby when Brian Clough was manager and so naturally I followed them. Back in the day, Derby used to offer free training at their training ground on a Saturday morning and I remember playing in a footie match with Brian Clough shouting at me from the sidelines. Those were the days.
I then moved to Kent and followed Gillingham and Maidstone Utd. I guess now I follow the fortunes of Arsenal, just to wind up DC.

Being from Nottingham I originally was a Forest Fan but have followed Darlo from the mid eighties(I actually played football with Tony Woodcock before he signed for Forest) so always look out for there results.
I follow teams from probably most European countries and look out for there results-Stenhousemuir(Scotland), VVV Venlo(Holland), Cottbus (Germany), Victoria Zizkov(Czech), Regginna (Italy), Pecs(Hungary) and have visited most of these grounds to see them play.

Leeds, as I followed them as a kid.
Nowadays I have a bit more than a soft spot for Arsenal. I've lived down South for longer than I'd lived in the North now and they've just grown on me.
I don't want either of them to lose and when they do I'm bothered about it tbh but not as bothered as when Darlo lose.

Re: Who is your team after Darlo?
Brought up a Darlington fan but moved to Cheshire at a young age so ended up following Witton Albion as well, made sense at the time supporting a Football League club and a team buried in Non-League. Never expected them to be a division apart with Darlo being the low ranked club!!!
