Looked a very tricky game tonight and we have come away with the three points. Brilliant couple of results for us this week!

Buzzing with that!! Puts us back top.
For anyone who can't make it for a midweek game, we're normally on in-play on bet365. Quite a good way to watch the game as the updates are instant.

"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

Good to see that Nantwich can only manage a home draw, after being 2-0 up.

From what I've read, it looks like Cartman had another terrific game for us. He's turning into such an important player.

Great recovery!
With the strength of so many teams in this league I wouldn't expect anyone is going to have a long winning run.
Encouraging for new boys Darlo who so far haven't strung their usual run of wins together.
Form team Stourbridge will be a big test with no Hunter, White and Watson, so Darlo may need more than a re-shuffle of midfielders.

The officials(ref and one of the linos)were by far the worst I have ever seen in any level off football I have watched and coached....bar a couple of opposition parents!
The Ashton Manager made a fool of himself offering Darlo fans out at one point, sure the club must be very proud of him, wonder if he will get a warning?
Ashton just hoofed the ball really dropping balls over our back four, winger was very tricky and a good CF in Pilkington but that was it.They will take points off our rivals though thats for sure, physical side.
Great support from Darlo fans tonight,I dont do many home games but from what my Darlo mates tell me a few home fans could do with following the away fans example.

Excellent 2nd half performance which made up for the dour 1st half showing. We got caught too often with the ball over the defence and could have been 2 or 3 down at half time. It was good to see us tighten up in the 2nd half and also get better delivery into the box. Attitude of the players was good, and they continued to work hard throughout, even during the 1st half it wasn't because they weren't putting in the effort.

Re: Ashton United v Darlington Match Thread
There haven't been many good officials this season and in fairness these lot weren't the worst I've seen but they are right up there. There were about 3 or 4 separate occasions where the referee could blatantly have played on but blew up and stopped play. The booking for Jameson looked a really poor decision and the referee should have said something to their bench. They were in the linesman's ear all match to the point I felt a bit of sympathy for him.
Like MCFCDarlo said their bench look a bit foolish at times. Their manager (I assume) seemed to be itching for a fight at full time. Anyone catch what their keeper was whinging about? He seemed to be itching for a scrap with someone as well at the end.
As for the game, I didn't think there was a great deal in it at half time, it was pretty lifeless for the most part in the first half. Defensively the goal we conceded was poor. Another ball over the top which caught us out. Said at half time if we could get the ball out wide a bit more and get it into the box from the flanks we'd get something out of it. The odd couple of occasions we did that in the first half they seemed to have a bit of bother with it.
Once we equalised the game opened up and it may have gone either way. Perhaps on another night a draw might have been a fairer result but credit to the lads, they kept going.

Re: Ashton United v Darlington Match Thread
Ashton scored with the benefit of a bad bounce from a divot. We can expect long balls over the top when pitches are rough.
Callaghan may be Martin's attempt to improve the quantity and quality of crosses. If the new lad can do this and also provide more pace he will be a great asset to the team.
Thommo's cross was an absolute peach and we know Mitchell, Galbraith and Youhill can provide similar, so we may see substantially more crosses being supplied that our talented forwards can use.
Cartman seems to operate best with a big partner nearby, so Gaskell fits that bill. He is a good signing, snatched from Salford who were in recruiting mode again.
