FC United problems?

Post by MCFCDarlo3 » Tue May 31, 2016 4:59 pm

Seen this posted on Bluemoon forum taken from an FCUM Forum, not looking good if this is a window in.Anyone heard anything else? I think a lot of public money was pumped into the stadium build.
.................................................................
It seems the Liar Walsh's incompetence has broken new ground this season. Whilst trying to get to grips with just how desperate a financial situation the club is really in, someone thought they'd better try and source some sponsorship and see whether current backers were commited to the club for next season.

After hearing what was going on Walsh bravely clambered out of his sickbed to provide the SP on mxdata, the main sponsor. He assured people their contract had been for £15,000 this season and that they'd committed to another £20,000 for next. Nice deal Andrew, well done.

Only once someone who's actually half competent at FC contacted mxdata they discovered a very different story: yes, mxdata had promised £15,000, but that was over this season AND next season. The £20,000 was a theoretical figure that they would commit to if they extended the deal beyond May 2017 meaning - even on "sick" leave - Walsh has manage to blow a £12,500 hole in next season's budget and £7,500 hole in this.

Not only had mxdata not committed to the figures Walsh had claimed, they hadn't even signed a contract for the figures they had committed to. And not only that, they hadn't yet - as of this month - paid a single penny for the season just gone, 2015-16. And due to the on-going disruptions and scandal they weren't even sure they wanted to carry on with the sponsorship.

All in all it means that of the £35,000 Walsh claimed to have secured from mxdata the amount the club has actually received is precisely zilch, and is unlikely to extend much beyond £7,500. This brings Walsh's deficit on this one, solitary budget line to an incredible £27,500 from 2015-17.

Reminder: Walsh is still being paid around £37,500 p/a by FC United members, despite having skived off work since at least March 22nd.

Yet still the Board have not made any moves to place Walsh on gardening leave; to take control of access to his FC email account (to check details of such sponsorship deals are as claimed by mxdata, if nothing else); or to call him to account for his disgraceful pisstaking GMR appearance.

Meanwhile, FC United is running a £50,000 overdraft facility with no sign of being able to pay it back, meaning the club potentially could be under the bank's control by August, with Community Shareholders losing all their investments.

Really surprised to hear that news. I thought there lack of movement up the football pyramid was due to them being financially careful and not over extending themselves financially.

Not adding in the fact they spent 4 consecutive seasons in the Evo-Stik Premier Play-Offs

There ongoing problems can only be to our advantage this coming season.

They finished 13th Pete. You really are a complete and utter cretin. Looking to the financial woes of a mid table side as something advantageous to us!?

For what it's worth I thing there are a section of fans at FC getting over excited. I know someone who was there when there was a demonstration against the board and they were boo'd by the vast majority of the crowd. As I understand it they are mainly those who were last on to the bandwagon, those that have been there from the start aren't so irate.

Maybe this is the reason it's best to keep commercially sensitive information away from public eyes. On attendances of 4,000 a £50k overdraft doesn't seem to problematic - ultimately we have had a £50k shortfall in 3 of the past 4 seasons.

Being really cold here but if they have full time staff then there is opportunity to save money.

Given the size of the club and the crowds they get, they should be serious contenders next season. Off the field problems, are bound to have an effect on the playing side, which can only be to our advantage, over the upcoming season.

From what I can make out they haven't got any bigger (as a club / crowd size) for this season than they were last.

Stockport have the biggest attendances and are the biggest club in the division. Hasn't got them promoted, or even close, in 2 or 3 (not sure which is right) seasons.

Countys management in the past few years has been awful but seems to be getting sorted now.I believe they will be at the top end this season with these changes and also Gannon in charge of a steady ship.

Having dealt with some of the directors in the past at County on a business basis im amazed they havent ended up in the NW Counties tbh.

FCUM would be up there in normal circumstances but I think the off pitch will affect them,I think its a bit more serious than a few of them getting uptight.

Most of the support booing had no idea what the demo was about and probably there were quite a few newnesses that were clueless or didn't care! the vast majority of fans that could see the problems the club were facing were founder members and the old guard and they have put a stop to it by democratic means. 8-)

I think being debt free if very honourable, but in the real world is not practicable. Even with their reduced gates, they should still be able to attract players that can propel them up to near the top of the table and certainly into the play-off positions.

I wonder how much of the current predicament is attributable to the stadium. That's a heck of a lot of money for a club at this level. Blackwell has cost an awful lot less, and while it's smaller, it's sustainable. We're lucky to have some brilliant volunteers rather than sciving money grabbers it would seem!
