Darlo v BPA Match Thread

Post by Darlobaz79 » Wed Mar 29, 2017 6:15 pm

Team
Bartlett, Marrs, Ferguson, Turnbull, Galbraith, Brown, Syers, Falkingham, Beck, Gillies, Thompson SUBS: Ed, Cartman, Hunter, Scott, Saunders

Does that mean Burgess is still injured? Wearmouth? Being saved for Fylde?

BPA looked both more fluid and more dangerous. Too much punt and hope on our part. Can only get better!

Not the best game but what was worse was the refs performance, now he was abysmal!

Massive result for us tonight and brilliant for Saunders to get the goal. That's 2 important goals he's got for us now. 6 to go.

Glad to see Gillies back in the starting 11, hasn't set the world alight recently but he is a player who can just make things happen. I think barring maybe Galbraith for Burgess at CB the one that started tonight is our strongest team.

Just our of interest where did Saunders come from? MG academy? Northern League? DFC youth teams?

Funnily enough of it hadn't been for Harvey's insistence that he could get into the Darlo team he'd have spent the full season at Ryhope

Well that was shocking. I was actually laughing at times it was that bad. The last minute summed up the whole game. Good three points. But we'll get smashed on Saturday with that performance.

Positives. Thommo was a million times better than Saturday
Falkingham is doing a blooming good job right now.
And Bartlett started to look like a keeper in that second half. Influential in the goal too.
Brown did well too.
And there was some courageous defending near the end.

So in the last 6 games we have 4 wins and 2 draws.

We have moved into joint 3rd in play-off picture. 6 games to go and with a good chance of making the play-offs.

Crap game but we grind out a 1-0 win, I will take it at this time of the season although it was hard work watching. We didn't play great at all but still got the win.

What the heck happened at the end there? Looked like a stonewall foul & red card but something else happened.
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

Awful game but take the 3 points anytime. That pitch was awful and how many times Ferguson lost control due to bad bounces was ridiculous. Will be interesting to see how we play on a decent surface at Fylde but got to agree we will get nothing if we play like tonight but if MG plays his strongest lineup I think we can beat them.I would like to see Kevin Burgess return alongside Browney and push Galbraith into midfield in place of Syers.Gillies is much better than what he produced tonight so would stick with him. Will no doubt get some stick over the Galbraith for Syers switch but that is my preferred option.

Saunders was having a disagreement with number 6 who aggressively backed into him when he was sandwiched between him and another player, the other player ignored the fact his own man pushed Saunders into him and started on Saunders, Saunders rightly stood his ground, and disappointingly Nowakowski decided to come over and involve himself in a 3 on 1 shoving match, which Saunders impressively held his own on and didn't do anything silly. Well done BPA, completely kegged by a youngster from every angle!

And with the foul, the Bradford defender thought play had stopped for the clear professional foul on Tommo, so he picked up the ball, and was penalized for handball!

Tell you what, young Harvey could be some player for us, very impressive for a 19 year old and good he is not getting pushed around by more experienced pro`s.

Wasn't sure the defender touched Thomson when he was going through. Saunders started winding their players up showing them how he scored the goal, which was actually good to see because we don't really have any players in the side who'll wind the opposition up.

Saunders could actually do with slowing down a bit at times. He tries to do everything at 100 miles an hour. Took his goal well though.

The goal highlight, it's hard to tell if Stephen Thompson fouled the No 3 for the goal, he seemed to fall very easily. Harvey Saunders was certainly sharp, getting the rebound after it had been blocked on the line. They all count :D

I disagree, the crowd held up will compared with our last home game. Very poor game with few highlights. Good to see Bartlett had a strong game, after a less than convincing debut game last week.

Lets hope so, it would be good to have a youngster come through the ranks. Lets keep expectations low for now though.
