Request for a lift to Alfreton

Post by Ginge01 » Tue Apr 11, 2017 1:09 pm

Hi everyone,
I will be flying in to England, arriving on Thursday. I'm hoping to go to the Alfreton match. Is there anyone who has space in their car for a lift (and back), I'll pay my way. I'll get myself from Middlesbrough to a meeting place. I asked DFR for help, but I've not heard anything yet. Hopefully I don't get double booked and seem ungrateful!!!

Thanks

Joe (ginge01)

I was told they were overbooked, a popular weekend to watch a match, and we're in a playoff place chase, so all taken. Thanks for your reply Al

I hope they don't have the same problems that United Airlines are having with people being overbooked.

I don't know how this story was reported in the U.K. It does happen (I don't know how often) where an internal flight is fully booked. When it lands at it's next destination, it's possible the flight crew needs to be replaced (I think if they have flown over a certain amount). So the plane needs a second flight crew.
They ask for volunteers to give up their flight to fly the replacement crew on board as passengers, I think they offer up to $1000 to buy out somebody's ticket. This is done before boarding. If there not enough volunteers, I believe they are legally allowed to randomly pick/draw/ select passengers, and those passengers are out of luck, their ticket in their hand does not get them on the plane, the airline tries to get them on a different flight. Imagine that if it's the last flight from Newcastle to Heathrow, if you don't make it, you miss your flight out of Heathrow to somewhere overseas.

The incident on TV, it appears United Airlines 'picked' four volunteers (telling the truth involuntarily), and three went along, got bought out etc. The fourth guy did not go along, so got hauled out of his seat, and dragged down the plane.

United Airlines is now trying a P.R. repair job as their stock value lost a fortune. It took two days for the CEO to start apologising.

I'll take a grind it out 2-0 win, goals in the 12th and 48th minute, a quiet day for the back four.
