This match against the Byker grovians on Monday, is it at the arena? If so is it all ticket? And if not which stands are open?
Waiting for Raj to shaft them!

Yes it's at the Arena, no it's not all ticket and it's usually the main stand and the stand behind the goal.

Is that our strategy to avoid conceding goals? Only have a goal at one end.

In the Echo today that we are hoping to sign a forward permanently in time for the Newcastle friendly.Wonder who but would not be disappointed if it was James Canton the lad who played against N Aycliffe.

Will we be moving a winger on then? Don't see the need for four in the squad, unless the plan is to play one of Gillies/Thompson behind a main striker.

Caton played upfront alongside Beck against Aycliffe.

He has played mainly as a winger looking at the videos but looked good up front with Beck so could be MG is looking to convert him as a striker.Looked far better than Brodie IMO.

Let's hope he discovers where the net is then - even for a winger his goalscoring record is poor.

Albeit at a higher level, Spyman.

Beck had a relatively poor goal-scoring record before signing for us last summer, and he turned out to be a fantastic signing.

I hope my concerns are unfounded then. Beck had spent more time further up the leagues with Carlisle and Yeovil, so did come to us with more pedigree.

Seem like we are signing Canton based on this mornings Echo.

Found this pic of him playing for Blackpool, look who's tackling him!

To be fair Caton was signed by Blackpool when they were in the championship so there must have been promise. He's a winger not a striker...
Aren't people on here always going on about service and getting balls in. Let's wait and see!

Best tell that to Caton then, he sees himself more as a forward than a winger

Caton has now signed on a two-year contract.

Squad almost complete now. Gray is looking to sign the centre-half which we have had on trial.

Reckon Brown will leave if we get a new CB.

He signed a new contract when we had Burgess / Hunter / Brown. We will now have Collins / New signing / Burgess / Hunter / Brown

Circumstances are entirely different when you are 1st / 2nd choice to being 4th / 5th choice CB.

He left a year or two ago because of work / family commitments. There will be no shortage of clubs after him and he has admitted himself in interviews that he is at his limit at the moment which indicates he will be down the pecking order.

Very good workout tonight against a good Newcastle team.More trialists on show, centre forward and a midfielder, both looked decent. We kept the ball very well at times and looked the real deal.
Second half young Saunders gave them some real headaches with his pace and with no Beck present tonight it was a pleasure to watch some constructive football.

Well, if Caton gets played by Martin as a forward hopefully his goals to game ratio will improve dramatically!

From what I seen tonight then I imagine he will be a decent signing, however one game doesn't guarantee anything. I can see why Gray has gone for him, long term one of Beck, Cartman, Caton or Saunders will surely leave as they won't be getting enough game time up front.

I believe the trialist who impressed and also scored the disallowed goal was Jordan Richards, formerly of Hartlepool and Alfreton. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan_Ri ... born_1993)

When we have 3 strikers we are too light up top. The moment we get a fourth then someone will leave.

Personally I think Beck, Cartman and Caton will rotate / cover each other for suspensions and injuries. Saunders as the back up.

Bit worrying why Burgess and Portas have not featured, does anyone have any updates on their injuries and when we can get them back playing.2 big players for us, hope they are back asap.

Hope so Adam, add these 2 players to what we have already and this is looking like a very good squad which will be matching the top teams IMO.

Josh Wheatley was very impressive.... as was Fenwick. I thought we were superb last night. We impressed my mate, a first timer, who's going to be coming to games with me this season after last night.
