FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
Yes really!! A true banana skin
Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
A giant banana skin made up of lots of smaller banana skins, placed strategically on our doorstep so we will automatically step on it as soon as we leave the house.
Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
Plus points: a winnable tie, it should be a decent crowd, and you can't complain at being at home to a team 2 divisions below
Negative points: it couldn't look more like a potential upset!

I have not seen rest of draw yet, but must be one of the ties of the round surely?
Potentially the live game?

Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
Will be a absolutely superb crowd for this game no danger of that but also a game we COULD lose as well
South Shields are no mugs at all, they have some great players and will be well up for this game
All depends on what team gray puts out

Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
Our game and number 9 are where you'd see the 'shocks' coming. Handworth are 5th in NECL but with games in hand enough to take them top. FCUM are hardly dominant in NLN.offside wrote:7 Harrogate Town v Penistone Church
9 Handsworth Parramore v FC United Of Manchester
This is an interesting one as I think it is two step 5 teams against each other. I'll be honest neither are particularly brilliant but massive game for them both.offside wrote:10 Albion Sports v Ashton Athletic
I' say ours and Handsworth are the ties of the round. South Shields are a strong NPLN team with good backing (and Arca) and it is an all north-east tie.

Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
On another plus point and one which Spyman may approve, it's an additional game and 2500 crowd could cover that seats shortfall!!!
Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
Trying to be neutral but ours does look like the one with most talking points. Our first season recognised as Darlington FC again, South Shields sudden rise and Julio Arca being a well-known name among most football supporters. Local derby etc.
But Salford have drawn one of the bigger names in the draw, so it will most likely be that one as we all know.

Gate receipts are split 45% to both clubs with F.A. getting 10%.don'tbuythesun wrote:On another plus point and one which Spyman may approve, it's an additional game and 2500 crowd could cover that seats shortfall!!!
Might need to reach next round to cover seats shortfall. Tough call.
Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
A good reason to hope it's not on TV perhaps? Or a good performance on TV might tempt a few armchair supporters back for the following home game.don'tbuythesun wrote:On another plus point and one which Spyman may approve, it's an additional game and 2500 crowd could cover that seats shortfall!!!
Realistically we'll need a 2 or 3 game cup run to cover the seats (literally). Arguably more important than league results at the moment.

I used to work with the manager of "Parramores" before they regrouped, reformed, and decamped to Worksop.

LOL 2500?don'tbuythesun wrote:On another plus point and one which Spyman may approve, it's an additional game and 2500 crowd could cover that seats shortfall!!!
I think we will be lucky to have 1,000 home fans, it's only the 2nd qualifying round of the FA Cup and early rounds are always poorly supported.
I think Shields will bring plenty though.
As others have said, a massive banana skin and an ideal opportunity for to Gray to keep his utter turd cup record going.
Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
People need to forget about ANY extra gate receipts being diverted to the seats - it is just not going to happen. (unless we had a massive payday from Old Trafford or something)banktopp wrote:Gate receipts are split 45% to both clubs with F.A. getting 10%.don'tbuythesun wrote:On another plus point and one which Spyman may approve, it's an additional game and 2500 crowd could cover that seats shortfall!!!

Gate receipts will always go into the day to day running of the club, and the sooner people get this, the better.
Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
But if they've not been budgeted for then surely they are surplus to the day-to-day running costs and can be allocated elsewhere?Quakerz wrote:People need to forget about ANY extra gate receipts being diverted to the seats - it is just not going to happen. Day-to-day costs don't go up just because we have a cup run and surely we are already budgeting conservatively to cover the day-to-day costs?

1000 would be incredibly disappointing, 1600-1800 home fans by my guess.Quakerz wrote:LOL 2500?don'tbuythesun wrote:On another plus point and one which Spyman may approve, it's an additional game and 2500 crowd could cover that seats shortfall!!!

Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
The last FA Cup game we had at 'home' was Hyde in 15/16, where 902 were present. Interestingly, the next Saturday we played Hyde in the league, where 1047 were present.
Hopefully we can get 1400 or so home fans in, which would probably give a total crowd of approaching 2000, maybe more (I imagine South Shields will bring plenty?)

Do season ticket holders get any cup games included? If not it's no surprise the league fixture would attract a bigger crowd.al_quaker wrote:The last FA Cup game we had at 'home' was Hyde in 15/16, where 902 were present. Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
No they don't. I was actually surprised by how big the FA cup crowd was in comparison to the league match against the same opposition, although it could be argued that we were probably down to our hardcore at that point of that season anyway.Spyman wrote:Do season ticket holders get any cup games included? I was looking in relation to Quakerz statement that we'd be 'lucky to have 1000 home fans'. Considering we got nearly 900 the last time we played an FA cup home game, but that was in Bishop Auckland and against less appealing opposition (there's a fair bit of noise about South Shields, and they're localish), hopefully we will get comfortably more than 1000 home fans.
Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
We hope that for budgeting purposes no income from any cup run is included in our running costs. However rather than "guess" the likely attendance, what is the guaranteed cash amount for winning this tie anyone know please?

Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
Can see this game attracting 2000/2500.
Shields will sell around 600/700 now they have those deluded Geordies & Mackems following them. Huge potential for an upset.
Be good to have a decent atmosphere at the place we call home.
Gutted I can't be there to be fair, should be a cracking game.
BGA - The prize money for winning is £4500.

Can't see that happening, as South Shields featured in a previous round. I'm sure the BBC will want to spread around the coverage, like they usually do!!!!spen666 wrote:I have not seen rest of draw yet, but must be one of the ties of the round surely?

£4,500 for the win and maybe a conservative estimate of £3,000 gate receipts would be a nice boost.
Shame we probably won't win!
