4-3-3 with Syers and Gillies in midfield? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.
(Or we'll destroy them 5-0...)

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Not bad for a team in the bottom half of NLN who haven't won in 6 games.

Wasn't just the players who let us down today, absolutely no atmosphere. Piss poor.

Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
The only good points today are , we got a point Cartmans back and I thought Vaulks played well , apart from that pretty poor.
Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
Brutal attendance, brutal result.
Attendances i thought would be higher, but i think BM leaves a lot to be desired. Aside from being able to go for a beer and walk from the town, I think HP was actually a better experience. Sigh. We'll get there. There'll be more days like this though.

Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
That performance was awful. Couldn't work out what the plan was. Fergie huffed and puffed but accomplished zero. Why didn't Thommo come on for Gillies?
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883
Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
I wasn't there today, but i'd assume because if the games I have seen this year, he's been very poor? (Not that Gillies has excelled particularly)
Where on earth is Wheatley? Is he injured? If we're not going to give him a go now, when nearly everyone is out of form, then what is the point.

I think I'm more disappointed with the performance than the result. The kind that has a knock on effect on attendance. Sub 1000 on Wed?

Anyone know why we were selling cup tickets on general sale today? I was there at 2pm and there was a separate table for general sale cup tickets...

Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
As far as I'm concerned the season fizzled out by the end of August. Hate to say it but after years of progress we may have passed our high water mark.
Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
We appear to be stuck in a vicious circle. Gate prices were put up so that the budget wouldn't be reduced with the expectation that we'd be up there challenging. However, we're not, so people are voting with their feet. We desperately need a cup run to improve publicity and interest.
Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
Disappointing. Poor crowd too - I dread to think what it'll be like on Wednesday.
The players tried, there was plenty of effort, but next to no creativity. I thought Cartman may have given us a spark, but he was anonymous until he missed what appeared to be our best chance (although it was hard to see as I was sheltering in the Tin Shed from the rain). Something needs to change to give us something different. Maybe time to give Saunders a go from the start - at least he'll give us some pace.
Vaulks looked like he had potential at least.

I feel pretty much exactly the same BUT whats the alternative? The Arena? I suppose we could try and save up millions to build our own ground, but we can't even afford any more seats right now.HarrytheQuaker wrote:I've been saying this since we moved there it's not a solution for me and NOT home and NEVER will it doesn't matter how much money we raise, it's a s*** ground end of!!! BM is what we've got, so we have to try and make BM as good as it can be.
Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
If they had been a bit more clinical in front of goal they could easily have won it as they had the best chances. And it's difficult to see how we are going to patch together a defence out of what's left from the injury wreckage. Looked like Portas had a hamstring problem and Collins hobbled away. Didn't look good.
Extra seats?... It doesn't look to me like we'll be troubling the judges this time around.

Piss poor. I thought the performance against Spennymoor was awful but this was just as bad. Were fairly dominant first half, Caton looked dangerous and Portas had a good showing at right back, but second half we seemed completely out of ideas to break down a team that had turned up for a 0-0. Attendance not great but you can't expect to convince people to pay £14 to come and watch that.
There were some kids slide tackling each other on the sideline that were better entertainment than the match.
