Darlington FC V FC U Manchester
Re: Darlington FC V FC U Manchester
Well worked free kick, Beck heads down to Cartman who volleys home from close range. If we put quality balls into the box we have the players to cause problems. Hopefully this acts as a confidence booster. Now stay tight for the rest of the game.

Re: Darlington FC V FC U Manchester
That`s the best we have played at home all season think Wheatley being in midfield helped get the best out of Turnbull and for once we seemed to have players running at there defence.
Think they helped by coming to play football instead of parking the bus even though some of the fouls they committed were cynical to say the least

Enjoyed that, feared the worst after that crazy tackle by Burgess absolutely no need for it.
Cartman got the goal and we started to play some good stuff man of the match for me was Wheatley, why on earth this is his first start is beyond me, anyway after Saturdays performance this was much better , so all those said they won't go get yourselves there on Saturday and support your team.

Re: Darlington FC V FC U Manchester
Wheatley was superb tonight. Great midfield performance, getting the ball moving quickly, accurate passing and setting up attacks. Will surely be a permanent fixture if he can maintain that form.

Saved well in my opinion.Darlopartisan wrote:Missed
Too often keepers aren't given fair credit for a good save. It wasn't a bad penalty.

Wonder if their fans continued to sing about George Best, Matt Busby and Man Yoo in general all the way back to Manchester. They did seem to be getting a bit uptight with MG and our dugout as things turned against them. But at least it was good to hear some singing from away fans at BM.

1st half was a better performance than recently, and then a silly challenge by Burgess made me fear the worst. Strange how things work out though, as we came out in the second half and looked great. Credit to Gray for getting the sub right - Syers was influential when he came on. Cartman took his goal well, but man of the match had to be Wheatley. He was outstanding. Everyone played well the second half though.
Raises the spirits a bit before Saturday. Hopefully the confidence is back and we take that into the weekend and come out on top against South Shields.

Much improved performance. knocked the ball around really well and abandoned the hoof game for once. Thought the ref was far to fussy, it wasn't a dirty game and yet 3 players sent off and god knows how many got booked.

FCUM could have had more sent off. They loved a hard challenge.Darlo_Pete wrote:Much improved performance. knocked the ball around really well and abandoned the hoof game for once. Thought the ref was far to fussy, it wasn't a dirty game and yet 3 players sent off and god knows how many got booked.
I thought the ref was very good. A few flashpoints but he managed them well.
Pitch was a worry though

I just watched a clip on facebook and it was a poor penalty - very saveable.loan_star wrote:Saved well in my opinion.Darlopartisan wrote:Missed

You had to be there to see the state of pitch in penalty box. Ref had to search before finding the pen spot! Galbraith did well to stay upright & struck fairly well but keeper anticipated & saved it.Spyman wrote:I just watched a clip on facebook and it was a poor penalty - very saveable.loan_star wrote:Saved well in my opinion.Darlopartisan wrote:Missed

Re: Darlington FC V FC U Manchester
I heard the problem with the pitch was a blocked drain, so hopefully that should now be sorted.
