Not seen my questions yet but very impressed by DJ's answer to the question about the perception that he is MG's "drinking buddy".

Interesting answer to long term vision for developing BM. third parties now involved or have I mis-read that?

You may well be right, I guess I thought as DRFC already own the site any third party was another entity. Re: Netcafe This Friday
Q. We are meant to be a community asset, but it feels like we are miles away from truly being integrated into the local community and established as a friendly, welcoming club that is central to local groups, charities and the wider area. What are the plans to increase community outreach?
Answer Again this is a complication. Deano Browne was working for the MGFA on our Football in the Community. Given the current conflict of interest issue we will have to look at this closely in the coming weeks. Community outreach also costs so we need to determine what we want to do and are prepared to fund.

Re: Netcafe This Friday
An interesting concern was raised by Mel Prescott:
I served on the DFCSG board from November last year until August, when I felt I needed to step down, primarily due to starting a new job. However, I was also disillusioned with the way the Football Club and DFCSG interact and the lack of opportunity to influence the direction of the football club. My feeling is that the club sees the SG as a fund-raising group and it is an ‘us and them’ whereas it should be an ‘us’.

Re: Netcafe This Friday
Bearing in mind the dominant role Martin played in the club and the constant demand to increase the playing budget I could see how this relationship (or perception) could develop. I understand that the DFCSG has corporate directors on the DFC board so perhaps a more collective approach will bbe developedMr_Tibbs wrote:An interesting concern was raised by Mel Prescott:

Personally I feel quite happy with the responses. It leaves plenty of questions - investment and future structure of the club is wide open - but I'm satisfied that those at the helm are looking after our best interests and doing well in touch circumstances. I also think David Johnson seems to be here on his own terms, not mg's.
Time to move on, let's get a new manager in, forget about Gray and York, make the most of the 'significant' transfer fees weve just received, and get on with the job at hand.

Re: Netcafe This Friday
David Johnston's answer re his relationship with our previous manager was very reassuring. Hopefully that will stop the rumours - it'd be very damaging to drive away another director

Re: Netcafe This Friday
After reading all of the questions and replies I'm reassured. I felt it was refreshing to see honesty and credibility throughout and really respectful comments about JT and DJ efforts. Looking forward to ongoing transparency and much more confident about our future.
Re: Netcafe This Friday
Most of those are pretty satisfactory, to be fair. Are we to assume that Beck is staying then?
It sounds like Ferguson has left, and the money for him will be cover the debt left from last year (Cheers Martin).
I think a major follow up question would be if there were to be more departures, would the money for those players go to the stand?

Shouldn't have been any debt.H1987 wrote:Most of those are pretty satisfactory, to be fair. Are we to assume that Beck is staying then?

Seems Beck may have fitness test issues currently.
If crowds don't plummet we may just make the end of the season with a clean slate for next year, if Beck signs we will have a little safety net.
Likely we will have to raise the 44k for the stand, as the club will now want to be clear of any carry over debt by the end of the season.
That's my understanding.

NO!
If any more players left after Beck, we might not necessarily get money for them, and also we would be in a position where they need replacing.

Me too. Still a lot of work to be done behind the scenes to put things back together, but I'm sure we will do it.tdk1 wrote:Personally I feel quite happy with the responses. Hopefully we'll see a few more nominations for election to the DFCSG board than I was contemplating last week.
Re: Netcafe This Friday
It's annoying we've had to carry over debt, but if we can wipe it off with the sale of Ferguson and maybe Beck then so be it. I have my doubts as to whether we'll get the money for the roof in time for this season from the fans only (if we do manage to make the playoffs of course), but a clean slate next season with a manager who doesn't demand an ever increasing budget wouldn't be a bad place to start from. Glad to hear we are looking to sever all links with MGFA, and also that 2 more advertising boards have been sold at BM.
Overall a very good, detailed Q+A. Thanks to the directors for taking the time to answer them and also for their work behind the scenes. Hopefully this level of communication can carry on in the future
I'm looking forwards to tomorrow and hopefully just enjoying a game of football

Good to hear we've had plenty of applicants.
Just catching up on the later questions I'd missed. This was a good one from Andrew Foulds:
It is suggested that we divest ourselves of everything to do with MGFA!
I regularly attend training sessions at Eastbourne Sports Complex on Thursdays, to get match action photos autographed for raffle prizes, and I see hundreds of kids all wearing tracksuits emblazoned with the DFC logo/badge. Are all these kids part of DFC?
Answer — Darlington Youth are technically not affiliated by company structure to DFC. Given the severing of ties with MGFA, we will look to establish a permanent relationship and structure with our own academy.
It was mentioned a few days ago that the parents of the DFC Youth teams pay for everything. Does this mean they're currently paying MGFA for training? If so then what proportion of MGFA's customer base would that represent?
Never got an answer to my question - about whether MG was going to give us our van back
