It’s just a case of dotting and crossing. Hopefully announced in a day or two

Re: New manager poll
I wish they'd get the new bloke announced. Hope this delay doesn't mean he's having second thoughts.
At this rate we'll be on Page 36 of this thread before we find out who he is.

Re: New manager poll
I wonder how many of those that voted for Hardy would have voted for Armstrong if they knew he was a realistic target?

Honestly, the appointment process can take a while. Be patient!

Re: New manager poll
I'd imagine even more so if the candidate is currently employed elsewhere. Compensation to be agreed etc.don'tbuythesun wrote:Honestly, the appointment process can take a while. Be patient!

Actually they weren't! It took them 4 months (or an hour if you believe Gray)
Re: New manager poll
If it is Armstrong, I actually want us to make a point of paying fair compensation to Blyth. Set a standard and show we do things the right way.Darlospike wrote:Surely we can just palm them off with a friendly....All gate receipts to Blyth obviously...darlo reborn wrote:compensation is easy just ask York

Re: New manager poll
My thoughts exactly. Given the way we felt about MG's departure to York I'd be very disappointed if the club didn't conduct themselves with the utmost integrity in with regards to any appointment to show we're better than that.Spyman wrote:If it is Armstrong, I actually want us to make a point of paying fair compensation to Blyth. We've offered Tommy Wright the job apparently.

Just sharing what I've been told by someone in the know. Wouldn't say it's 100%.Darlobaz79 wrote:First post and joined the forum just 5 mins ago, so either in the know or a troll! No help!ConlonsToe wrote:We've offered Tommy Wright the job apparently.

Re: New manager poll
Aren't Nuneaton full time? I'm not convinced Wright would want to give up a FT job for a PT one.
On the flip side, I'm not convinced Armstrong would want to leave Blyth at the moment either
So overall, I've no idea. I'd imagine we will find something out pretty soon though!

Re: New manager poll
Seems plausible to me. We have no idea how negotiations with Armstrong and/or Blyth have gone. If they have ground to a halt TW is probably the best alternative of the options I'm aware of.Darlobaz79 wrote:First post and joined the forum just 5 mins ago, so either in the know or a troll! Alun's promise to the fans: “I’ll make sure I’ll bring players in that are value for money and I want players that want to play for Darlington Football Club, want to progress and move up the league and show the fans that passion.”
Re: New manager poll
I'm not sure why either would leave their current jobs to be fair, but I guess there is quite a lot of prestige tied with potentially getting Darlo back to the conference.Allan Quatermain wrote:Seems plausible to me. Re: New manager poll
There wouldn't be. News like this will be kept under an embargo and released by all parties at the same time.Darlo_Pete wrote:Nothing on the Echo website to indicate who is coming in.
I'd expect that anyone in a position to know anything about it would remain tight-lipped about it so anything said here or elsewhere should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Hopefully we'll find out today.

Re: New manager poll
I'm sure that some posters on here know the identity of the new manager and will have disclosed who he is, but I'm not sure who those posters are. Looks like it's between Tommy Wright and Alun Armstrong, if you believe posters on here.

Re: New manager poll
Patience is a virtue sadly lacking with social media and since 2012 has wasted a lot of time for previous directors with emails, texts&phone calls stemming from rumour not fact. Hopefully not too long to wait for the official announcement.Mr_Tibbs wrote:There wouldn't be.
