Beck
Beck
I was wondering if anyone knew the following (no guesses please):
1. Are York coming back in for him
2. When's he back fit?
I hope he stays because we can continue to play football with him in the team and he adds the option of going direct if we need to. I'm not against playing direct, just not all the time.
If he isn't going to stay I'd rather know now so we can get someone in now rather than wait until he's gone.

Re: Beck
York signed a striker on loan from Torquay for just a month, perhaps giving Beck a chance to getting fit. But probably only Gray knows the answer to question 1.

Re: Beck
Beck has been out for three weeks, his last game was Grays last game against Curzon.
A four week lay off was mentioned around about the Stockport home game so 7th October, which would suggest he may be back for 11th November but I guess that all depends on how his injury clears.
I reckon Gray will come back in for him but if he doesn't then he is a popular squad member who when fit and used correctly is a very good player at this level. If he did leave we need to be looking for a replacement asap.

Re: Beck
I think he played when he shouldn't have been playing really. Probably learnt something about his injury when he had his medical with York.theoriginalfatcat wrote:What a coincidence.super_les_mcjannet wrote: Beck has been out for three weeks, his last game was Grays last game against Curzon.
Hopefully he comes back fit and ready, either way he goes for some money or we get a pretty good striker up front.
Re: Beck
He's scored once all season. And looked shite.
If York come in with any sort of offer at all, take it and save on the wages.

Re: Beck
He has been injured all season... Gray kept playing him even though he was injured and had no pre-season.
The lad was playing up front and expected to get onto every long punt up the field. Then he was called back for every set piece that the opposition had and again was expected to win every ball into the box. When he was winning the defensive headers some clowns near to where I go were always giving him stick for not being up front...
I would love him to get his fitness back and resume where he left off last season.

Re: Beck
I may be wrong, but plenty of clubs sign injured players... isn't a medical designed to uncover a wider issue, long term weakness?

Re: Beck
Plus when Beck has been playing, Gray kept him on for the full 90 minutes, so tiring him out more and accentuating any injuries he was carrying.

Re: Beck
Will Gray have to get his signings rubber stamped or is he all powerful?
He obviously wanted him, and Beck by (having a medical) would seem to want to go.

Let's not roll over to the mighty York City - let them pay top whack for Beck, or keep him, to be possibly moved on later. That should give Beck a little impetus to get fit and up his game.
Gray had obviously known about his exit for some while and might have dropped a couple of subtle hints to certain players. Funny how Beck hasn't played since Gray left.

Think you might find it is because he has a problem with his knee... In other words he is injured.theoriginalfatcat wrote:Quakerz wrote:He's scored once all season. And looked shite.

Re: Beck
Not saying he didn't know that. and you are probay right on that.
Just saying that he played Beck when he was injured and that is why he is still out now.

Re: Beck
Beck played when he was injured. Gray knew this but wanted him out there. They tried to manage the injury but it did the player no favours at all.theoriginalfatcat wrote:No. You think that Gray was?My opinion wrote:Think you might find it is because he has a problem with his knee... Re: Beck
It is more a question of value than fitness.
As i understand it, his contract, arranged by one MG was identical to that of Ferguson. This was eluded to several weeks ago by DJ.
York City do not value him anywhere near that trigger value.
MG thought he had a done deal, YC Directors rained him in
"hoist by own petard" springs to mind
Standard process is to agree terms dependent on passing medical.
As terms were never agreed no medical has taken place

You saying the Echo got it totally wrong then to say he had failed a medical?tezza wrote:It is more a question of value than fitness.

Re: Beck
We’re crying out for a natural goal scorer upfront and Beck doesn’t provide that. Hopefully Tommy will bring in a couple of good forwards sooner rather than later as we can’t carry on relying on goals from the opposition defender or wind assisted free kicks. I wouldn’t lose much sleep if Beck left. I’m sure him and Carts only have something like 2 between them all season.

The date on that paper might be true, the rest is questionable

Must be forgetting his 18 goals last season then. Think he's been hung out to dry a bit by previous management as he just isn't fit and should never have been risked.quakermass wrote:We’re crying out for a natural goal scorer upfront and Beck doesn’t provide that. However for what it's worth I think he will sign for York when he is fit again. A shame as he will be hard to replace.
Re: Beck
Beck will be a York player as soon as the injury has cleared up. York are not going to pay us £25k - £30k for an injured player who can't play for them immediately, from their perspective it only makes sense for the injury to clear up before proceeding.Darlofan97 wrote:Fee was agreed but Beck did fail a medical.

Yes you're probably right. If Gray knows what's in Beck's contract and can pluck him away at anytime he wants then then that's what he'll do, if it suits him.
Unless Tommy does something.
