The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
For those who haven't seen it via other social media channels yet, we've recorded a podcast!
Episode 1 features an exclusive interview with Tommy and Alan, along with our attempt to pick an "impact XI" from the last five years. You can listen here: https://soundcloud.com/user-390607800/t ... -episode-1 - we're working on getting it onto iTunes but there's a review process to go through first.
All (gushing) praise and (constructive) criticism is welcome!

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
Gushing praise is certainly deserved. Loved the stories from AW and TW, about Dave Penney sending AW out to buy a table tennis table and a dart board and how the team spirit was so tight, and how different it was under Staunton.
Also enjoyed the chat about MGs tenure. Those are just the bits I've heard. Very interesting guys and what would be lovely (which you might even have lined up) would be some interviews with former players just like you did with TW and AW. Sounded like you had some fun too!
Reminds me of the old Clubcall on the phone (but yours is more professional of course guys) with "Keith Robson 'ere". Remember I used to come back pissed from the Mardi Gras and phone up about 2.30 am to listen and get some absolute bollockings from my dad when he checked the phone bill. You have to be of a certain age to remember this!

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
Enjoyed this massively. My criticism is that I got so engrossed that I stayed up late and got hardly any sleep for work the next day. The interviews with TW n AW were great. Very open.

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
Maybe I should not say it but being a far away fan I get most of my info from Uncovered, which can on occasions be far from riveting or uplifting! I absolutely loved the podcast, on expletives or asterisks. It was refreshing to listen to over an hour of thoughtful comment. The whole episode was most enjoyable. I am looking forward to episode 2.

Listened to this today - it is excellent! Looking forwards to the next episode. The interview with Wright and White was particularly good - was great to hear about other things than the current Darlo situation.

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
I listened to episode 3 last night. Enjoyed it. But the best part by miles was the interview with DJ. He comes across so well and IMO it's imperative that we keep this guy along with John Tempest.
He has the skills we've needed and we could really do well with him at the helm

Totally agree, DJ is the perfect fit for us, comes across so well both commercially and his awareness of finances and sustainability.Along with JT really confident at long last we are in safe hands.D_F_C wrote:I listened to episode 3 last night. Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
Yep it appears Johnston has good a good handle on a long term plan, other than short term which we have been working from for some time.
I like the sounds of a once the month board room where the DFCSG board are included and go over a football update, financial, P&L where we are. The finance side was something always kept to the DFC board previously with no directors sharing that even with DFCSG, so these changes are well needed.
Hopefully Wright keeps us up and you can sense we can move forward again.

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
I've just listened to the first half of D.J's interview and would encourage anyone else to do likewise. He seems to have the perfect experience needed to get us moving forward in a sensible way. If Martin Gray was instrumental in getting D.J to Darlo - then it could turn out to be his best ever Darlo signing!
D.J talks of previous player 2 year contracts and budget problems, the squad, about how Tommy has had a hard job with player movements and fixtures. He also tells a story about how Reece Styche phoned him up early in the morning re his infamous penalty - and apologised for his mistake!!
D.J. has good knowledge of football and his financial skills and experience must be better than anyone that's been around the club for a long time.

He is the perfect fit for us without a shadow of doubt, plus we must not forget the contribution being made by John Tempest.Well done to both.

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
Anyone know what the incidental music is on these broadcasts?
The funky Arabian style guitar riff thing, at the start and end.

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
A colleague of mine at work made that (there's actually a longer version) with the intention that I'd use it as a DFR intro on the actual commentary broadcasts. I never got into the habit of doing so, unfortunately!theoriginalfatcat wrote:Anyone know what the incidental music is on these broadcasts?

Great piece from DJ particularly regarding Josh Heaton
and football league clubs showing interest in some of our players.

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
I liked Craig's trivia at the end.
Last time we had a start of the season home match was against Warrington, and we all know how that day panned out - Put me in a right bad mood.
Also - last time we had a start of the season home match actually in Darlington.......

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
Good listen that Podcast.
Biggest positive was that we are now debt free, which is a massive turnaround from where we were twelve months ago. For the first time in a very long time we appear to be in a very healthy financial position. Long may it continue.

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
Quick Wiki check shows it was Braintree in 2011 when we won 1-0 and the season before was Newport County in 2010 when we won 2-0.theoriginalfatcat wrote:Also - last time we had a start of the season home match actually in Darlington.......
