If the forecast is for the temperatures to rise, then the ref can organise a further inspection closer to kick-off, but of course if the game is still called off, we face having to pay the Salford's travelling expenses.jjljks wrote:Can't see it being on. Any inspection would have to be done before Salford set off surely? If this is true then 09:00 would be about the latest & we have a hard frost now

Re: Salford game rearranged
Hard frost outside, I think the game is going to be off I'm afraid. Wonder if they've already discussed re-arranging for midweek?

No surprise given the hard overnight frost.

Re: Salford game rearranged
Shame.Rain only half hour away which would of helped defrost the pitch quickly , hopefully we can get it on for Wednesday night

Bit harsh! Better to try than not to try, because no one knows exactly how conditions will turn out.HarrytheQuaker wrote:So glad they wasted time and effort on a couple of patches of straw...FUKC it wasn't rocket science looking at the predicted forecast that it was never gonna work.. Re: Salford game rearranged
I would expect this won't be arranged till mid Jan given the already hectic Christmas/New Year run in.
The way things are going I don't think we'll get a home game this month!

Well done for those who made the effort and it WOULD have been worth it if it had worked and certainly helped the cash flow. If only we had a huge heated cover.....

Re: Salford game rearranged
Back in the 60's we would be playing footie in the South Park whatever the weather, don'tbuythesun wrote:Remember the old days with braziers on the pitch, lines cleared and the orange ball to play on the snow? Footie for softies now!
someone would round us up with the promise of free entry and we would be put to work shovelling the pitch.
Terracing could be lethal but Mr Health and Mr Safety had not been invented back then.
As long as ref and linesmen could see the lines the game would go on.
No cash flow problems back then due to weather.

Correct. Loved having a kick about in the snow. Mind you that orange ball did'nt show up too well on the old Radio Rentals b/w telly on a Sunday afternoon watching Shoot with Mr Wolstenholme.don'tbuythesun wrote:Remember the old days with braziers on the pitch, lines cleared and the orange ball to play on the snow?
