Darlington V Blyth
As long as there are no injuries, I would not change the team from Saturday, some say O'Hanlon should go straight back in, normally I would agree, that will change the 2 CB pairing unless Galbraith goes on the bench that is.
Its a good dilemma for TW.

Re: Darlington V Blyth
We won at Brackley on the most part due to our attacking prowess.
I quick browse of twitter suggests Henshall had a baby at about midnight last night so I would be amazed if he is available tonight - will his mind be on the game if he did play or on his partner and new born back at home?
If I am not mistaken Blyth’s strikers are no slouches either which would tempt me to pair Galbraith and Burn as CB. That said the easiest switch might be Galbraith to LM and O’Hanlon to LB or visa versa.
Whilst Nicholson may be the ‘obvious’ switch I feel that would make us more narrow and feels like it would crowd out our strikers. We need to stretch teams wide and leave Styche and Ainge to be challenged one on one - or ideally two on one because they will still win it and leave the other one free!

Re: Darlington V Blyth
We definitely need to improve our home form this season if we have aspirations of challenging for the play offs, and also increasing crowds.
Last season we lost seven games at home and only won 9 out of 21 home games, and whilst there was a lot of turmoil and change, that needs to be improved this season if we are to challenge at the top end of the league.
So a win tonight is very important.

I’d keep the back 4 as Saturday but bring O’Hanlon in for Henshall at LW to give Galbraith a bit more protection from the Blyth wingers

Re: Darlington V Blyth
Apparently we are the only English game tonight, apart from qualifying extra preliminary round games in the FA Cup. It's not often we can say we're the principal match in England.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there's a Bostik League gameDarlo_Pete wrote:Apparently we are the only English game tonight, apart from qualifying extra preliminary round games in the FA Cup. It's not often we can say we're the principal match in England.
Re: Darlington V Blyth
O’Halloran to come in at LB to combat Rivers pace. Galbraith may find that more difficult. Burn or Collins to make way. I prefer Burn to play but with him coming back from injury I could see him making way. Nicholson in at LM if Henshall not available

It just doesn't feel like 'home'.joejaques wrote:Kinnell, what is it about Darlo at home. One down already.

That's how winning is done!"

Another Ainge-Styche combo, according to the twitters they've got these days.joejaques wrote:1-1 Styche again.

We've hit the woodwork twice and had two goals disallowed. Hope it's not going to be one of those nights.

That would be three disallowed.biccynana wrote:We've hit the woodwork twice and had two goals disallowed. Hope it's not going to be one of those nights.

In genuine disbelief that we didn’t win that game. We absolutely hammered them
Re: Darlington V Blyth
It was just one of those nights. Dominated but couldnt deliver the killer blow. Their 15 fans must have been delighted to steal a point.

First half was fairly even, but then we got well on top and we certainly deserved the win. Thomo got MOTM, but I'd have given it to Galbraith and Trotman had a great game as well. We hit the woodwork twice and had 3 goals disallowed. Overall it was a very good game and a vast improvement on the Curzon Ashton game.Darlo2807 wrote:In genuine disbelief that we didn’t win that game. We absolutely hammered them

Disappointing result, encouraging performance. Dominated from 15 minutes in. Thommo and Trotman tortured them down the right, was scratching my head as to why they didn't sub Watson, Thommo must have skinned him every time.
Seemed like Collins stopped assuming an offside for their goal. Sloppy.

It looked well offside but the lino was miles behind play.

I was in line and thought he was comfortably on.

Re: Darlington V Blyth
Obviously the initial reaction is disappointment because we battered Blyth and were well worthy of 3 points.
BUT, that was a million miles away from the game against Curzon Ashton.
We need to eradicate the error that caused their first, but I thought Galbraith and Burn were the pick of the back four tonight. Wheatley and Elliot were outstanding and Thompson was unplayable.
Bet365 counted a little over 20 shots on goal for Darlo. 1 goal; 3 disallowed and hit the woodwork 3 times. As they say, on another day...
The ref was poor though.

Can’t quite believe we didn’t walk away with three points from that. The most one sided draw I can remember for a long, long time. Tremendous praise to each and every one of the boys, you can’t ask for more and on another day it really would’ve been 5 or 6. Credit to the two Blyth centre halves too who were excellent. Thommo absolutely superb all night, tortured the little gobshite Watson time and time again. If we play like that on a regular basis we’ll have a good season, no doubt about it.
Re: Darlington V Blyth
Can't wait for the video highlights (which must be 25 mins long to get in all the incidents) as I have no idea why some of those disallowed goals were ruled off. Blyth were played off the park for 70 mins with our possession at least 75% and Thommo was stellar.
OK, that was the good part but I also lost count of our unforced errors - simple passes astray or behind team-mates, dummies attempted when a simple pass would do. If we could cut 50% of this out, then we will be in the playoff mix. Hopefully, it is because the team still in need of playing time together, given the massive churn of the squad this season.
Keep the faith & we can have a good season!
