Alfreton away
Alfreton away
Stop Styche and we can win this one as well. The Kidderminister performance convinced me we can give anyone a game in this league. If Tommy gets it right again we can start looking forward.
Re: Alfreton away
Apparently he has a full squad to choose from, but Romal Palmer played a full 90 mins for Barnsley U23s this afternoon.

Palmer scored the winner also, not sure if that will stop him being available tomorrow though.Vodka_Vic wrote:Apparently he has a full squad to choose from, but Romal Palmer played a full 90 mins for Barnsley U23s this afternoon.

Looking forward going to this one plus I’m not driving. Be good if Styche gets a warm reception.

Re: Alfreton away
Not in the squad. I'm not sure I understand his loan position, if indeed he is still on loan, as playing back at his home club when we would still have need of him begs the question of who he is currently supposed to be serving.super_les_mcjannet wrote:Palmer scored the winner also, not sure if that will stop him being available tomorrow though.Vodka_Vic wrote:Apparently he has a full squad to choose from, but Romal Palmer played a full 90 mins for Barnsley U23s this afternoon.

I just hope that he gets no more than that.quakersfan wrote:Looking forward going to this one plus I’m not driving. Be good if Styche gets a warm reception.

Re: Alfreton away
Any news on our line up?
Re: Alfreton away
Maddison, Trotman, Kokolo, Smith, Ainge, Galbraith, Elliott, Wheatley, Saunders, Thompson, Nicholson.
Subs: O'Hanlon, Hall, Glover, Burn, Henshall.
Hughes presumably injured, no Palmer, Ainge at the back

Re: Alfreton away
What's the deal with Palmer? Played 90 mins for Barnsley U23s yesterday so presumably was never going to play today. Could do with him on the bench.

Re: Alfreton away
H/T 0-0...pretty grim stuff so far. They are a big raw, niggly team who are all over Thommo/Harvey. Styche is playing wide right. He’d had a couple of decent runs. They’ve missed a couple of chances (inc Styche!!). We’ve tried to play some football but have been sucked into playing too many longer balls and our front two haven’t had a sniff. Still we’re kicking downhill second half. Ainge has looked solid at the back

Thought we played well today and fully deserved a win. I’ll settle with a clean sheet and a point.

Re: Alfreton away
Agree with this. They continued to play like a typical Billy Heath team. We played much better second half. Great from Styche at the end applauding Darlo fans...Ainge was MOTM for me by a milequakersfan wrote:Thought we played well today and fully deserved a win. I’ll settle with a clean sheet and a point.

Ainge is a good player when fit, just people on here don't give players a chance..

Re: Alfreton away
Controversial comment of the day coming up: Ainge should play at the back from now on (give Hughes time to get fully mended)...he’s rock solid and there was no hearts in mouths at any time today
Re: Alfreton away
Ainge looked rusty early on but grew into the game. Pleased with the effort put in by all the team today. A deserved point that could easily have been all 3.

There's a definite improvement. Think that's 14 points from the last seven. It was 4 from the previous eight! Hopefully we can see consistency and stability developing.

Ta.
Thought so.
And I thought Tim Parkin was 'big boned'
Reminds me of any 5-a-side footy I've ever played where the fat ogga who turns up in tracky bottoms and a t-shirt with half his tea down the front is the best player by miles.

Re: Alfreton away
Seems like a match where the loanees we've had recently would have thrived. However, just lacking that extra quality has probably cost us 2pts. TW has to work to bring in some players of similar quality if we want to see out the season on or more positive footing rather than be dragged into a scrap at the bottom which has been a worry until recently.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

I worked out very quickly that he’d seen Tommo’s goal and the celebration.
My reply was ‘possibly the biggest footballer I’ve ever seen but found his position’
