Galbraith
Defender Terry Galbraith has signed a one year extension to his contract which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2019-20 season
Terry joined the club in December 2012. Since then he has played 247 times for us and scored 55 goals .
I think this was the team when Galbraith made his debut for the club, some good players in that team.
Darlo Team :
Norton
Harrison
Galbraith
Gott
Brown (c)
Tait
Nicholls
Scott
Thompson
Dowson
Purewal
SUBS: Reay, Porter, Keltie, Emms, Clarke

Re: Galbraith
Some good players at that level. Galbraith one of the few to move up the leagues successfully.
Re: Galbraith
I would have liked to have seen Gott given more of a chance. Not given s chance by Gray once we got promoted.

I thought he left at his own request due to work commitments?quakerste wrote:I would have liked to have seen Gott given more of a chance. Not given s chance by Gray once we got promoted.
Agree though, was a very classy player and one who could have come with us through a few leagues.

I may not live in the north east anymore but i still support the north east teams
Re: Galbraith
Gott wanted more game time. He didn't want the extra travelling to be a bit part player so the work excuse was used.
He played at that level with Spenny for long enough after leaving us.

Re: Galbraith
I liked Harrison too and thought he’d be able to step up.
Re: Galbraith
Every outfield player in that team was decent. Norton was rubbish though.
Who was Clarke? Doesn't ring any bells.

Yeah then left because of work commitments and the extra travelling , spenny were still in the league below when Gotty were there.loan_star wrote:Gott wanted more game time. He didn't want the extra travelling to be a bit part player so the work excuse was used.

Re: Galbraith
Harrison was good enough for evostik D1N (or D1E as it is now) but he had issues with travel - I am sure the moment we were promoted he seemed to be out the door (similar to Emms).Beano wrote:I liked Harrison too and thought he’d be able to step up.
Surprised Clark Keltie was there when Galbraith made his debut. I had it in my head Keltie joined a lot later in the season than when Galbraith did.

Bit harsh to say Norton was rubbish. He was ok for Northern League. Had a mistake in him, but who at that level didn't?Spyman wrote:Every outfield player in that team was decent. Norton was rubbish though.

Re: Galbraith
Good news about Galbraith committing to the club for another season, as he has been one of our most consistent players so far this season. I was surprised that he has scored 55 times, I guess we have won more penalties that I thought.

Re: Galbraith
Put it this way - when we replaced him with Mark Bell, it was definitely an upgrade. Norton was undoubtedly a weak link in that side.HarryCharltonsCat wrote:Bit harsh to say Norton was rubbish. Re: Galbraith
Any ideas who this means we have contracted for next season? By my reckoning It would be:
Contracted
Maddison
Galbraith
Hughes
Burn
Wheatley
Elliott
Glover
Nicholson
Thompson
Ainge
Unsure:
Trotman
O'Hanlon
Vaulks
Henshall
Currently on loan
Kokolo
Smith
Palmer
Saunders
Contracted
Maddison
Galbraith
Hughes
Burn
Wheatley
Elliott
Glover
Nicholson
Thompson
Ainge
Unsure:
Trotman
O'Hanlon
Vaulks
Henshall
Currently on loan
Kokolo

Who was the other forward we brought in a bit later on that season, local lad from Darlington?

Re: Galbraith
Looking at that list, you'd probably put question marks over Burn and Maddison in terms of quality but the others on there (Glover excepted as he's one for the future) make the basis of a decent team.JE93 wrote:Any ideas who this means we have contracted for next season? Re: Galbraith
Bell was definitely an upgrade, but he would have been on 99% of keepers in the league at that time. I just thought rubbish was a harsh appraisal of Norton. Rather like Jamieson, his good work was forgotten in favour of his errors. He can't have been that rubbish, or South Shields wouldn't have taken him with all their money.Darlogramps wrote:Put it this way - when we replaced him with Mark Bell, it was definitely an upgrade. Re: Galbraith
Yeah pretty much agree. Think you would have to add Henshall to that list too as I'd imagine he is another who has a contract for next season but not entirely sure. Would happily offload Burn if a rich northern league team wanted him. Never seen a CB so poor in the air.Spyman wrote:Looking at that list, you'd probably put question marks over Burn and Maddison in terms of quality but the others on there (Glover excepted as he's one for the future) make the basis of a decent team.JE93 wrote:Any ideas who this means we have contracted for next season? I still have hope for Maddison. Reminds me a bit of Jameson, A good shot stopper, good 1v1, but needs to do better on his positioning and his handling. Or perhaps this is what we should expect at NLN level, after all we were spoilt by having Pears here last season.
Would certainly like to see Trotman signed up again for next season. Although won't he be finishing his Degree soon so that by depend on what he plans to do afterwards. Vaulks, i think should be given a chance and Glover needs to start playing a bigger part to help him develop. He's in an awkward catch 22 at the moment where he's probably not fully ready for the physicality of the league, but from what others have said is too good for the youth team.
If we are to persist with 3-5-2 and we can get Trotman confirmed for next year that would give us:
-------------------------- Maddison -------------------------
------------ Vaulks/Loanee, Hughes, Galbraith ------------
Trotman -------------------------------------------- Loanee
-------------- Wheatley - Nicholson - Elliott ----------------
-------------- Ainge/Loanee ---- Thompson/Loanee -----------
Subs: Yth Keeper, Vaulks/Loanee, Glover, Henshall, Striker/Loanee
Looks like a mid-table side to me if we can get them performing consistently to a reasonable level. And if that's what we can afford then that's fine with me.

Re: Galbraith
At that time/at that level, Craig Gott was excellent.
And give her her due, his partner/wife/girlfriend used to come and sit in the open seats behind the goal of a midweek game to watch him.
And speaking of Jamie Clarke...
