Fantastic win by Ashton beating Chorley 1 - 0, not so good for us.

Has to start playing our strongest side, no more loyalty to certain players, Ashton have really picked up lately and are grinding out some good results.Very tough games ahead,TW has to play his best team in their correct positions and stick with it for a few games. We cannot afford to lose this Saturday simple as that.

Well we're certainly playing Chorley at the right time.

We still have to play six of the top ten. If Ashton start grinding out results like that, then we are in deep, deep trouble.

The last time we scored from open play was on the 5th January, we can't get penalties every single game...

Guiseley away on Easter Monday could be a direct survival shootout

Are we not counting Elliott's goal away to Curzon.

However your point still stands and is our current problem, we don't score enough goals currently. Which is largely because we don't have a goal scorer in the front two, other than Ainge (although question marks over him as a forward) and the best formation for the team doesn't work with Ainge in it.

Over to Tommy to make a decision on what he wants.

Not sure about Elliott's goal, it was from a set piece after the initial corner was cleared, the shot was the first touch after the clearance. Either way, like you said, my point about not scoring enough goals stands.

Really didn’t see that Ashton result coming. I still think 2 more wins will put enough distance between us and the bottom 3 but I am not sure I see us getting those wins until April...

We had a perfectly good goal disallowed at Blyth too.

Another consequence of the Ashton result is that Spenny are now in pole position to win promotion.

How? I thought Stockport and Chorley were both still above them in the table?

Spennymoor a point behind both with a game in hand.

Ah right. So assuming they won their game in hand they will be. I think based on form it’s going to be between Stockport and Spennymoor and who would have thought that would ever be a title race in any division years ago...

Spennymoor away to Stockport next weekend. Massive game for them, I personally think they will now win the league.

Don't think Chorley are going to go the distance and wouldn't be surprised if we take a point off them next Saturday.

I think he's been biding his time as we were comfortably mid-table and he couldn't do the whole league. Now it's clear we're in a relegation battle he only really would have to concentrate on the bottom 7.

He is probably too depressed like myself, as we are sleepwalking into the Evostick.

We went to York yesterday to watch them huff and puff against Nuneaton.

I couldn’t help notice that Nuneaton’s goal keeper is really quite good, he made some good agile saves and kept them in the game for quite a while. He’s very good at sneaky time wasting though, as seen at Blackwell Meadows over the last few seasons.

If he’s going cheap.......

Another player from the Midlands ?
It does not work with the travelling up to training, that's if they bother to come up.

Not that our strike force is troubling the keeper. We could put a dustbin there and they would not score ;)
I agree that we should be looking for players from the North East who can get to team training. Recently, we looked like 11 strangers who have just met and coincidentally decided to wear the same shirt.

There are only 3 Midlands players now aren't there? Trotman, Elliott and Nicholson.

That are regulars, yes. Glover is the only other. 2 out of those 3 have been standout performers this season.

Where is Liam Hugh’s based ?
I can see he’s a Rotherham lad but he’s moved about a fair bit with different clubs.

Last time I checked Doncaster wasn't in the midlands.

All 3 have put in a decent contribution this season to be fair to them, that's not me saying they have been fantastic but happy enough when they are in the team.

I would have no issue with Trotman, Elliott and Nicholson all being part of the squad next year, so clearly travelling from the midlands hasn't affected those guys massively.
