I would be unsure of an assistant manager who comes from a team where money is not a problem , not saying he couldn’t do it, but In our current situation we need someone who’s been a successful manager.

Ben Clark has been sacked by Gateshead today, I think we should definitely look at him if he’s interested

What about Phil Turnbull, coming to the end of his career and stated he would consider management?

Brilliant record in his last spell as (joint) manager. Only lost one game ;).

Doesn't he have a full time job in teaching, in which case it would be hard to recruit him? Also it would be a very risky appointment, as he hasn't got any management experience and I'm not sure he has the necessary coaching badges that have been asked for.

I guess it depends on what the objective is

I don't think Ben Clark has any recruitment record (TW's poor recruitment record was one of the main criticisms aimed at him). If I'm not mistaken, Gateshead was under a transfer embargo for the entire time Ben Clark was manager.

Whilst he never recruited as manager he had a hand in recruiting the team along with Steve Watson and Micky Cummins in the summer. Also some of the players he put into the 1st team had been his recruits when he was under 19 manager such as John mellish
