Turned it right around straight after half time, 2-1 now.

You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

Re: Evostik playoffs
Was having a discussion about SS at work today. Given they signed about a quarter of our team last summer, are we already competing for the same players. If they get promoted will this continue or will they look even higher like Salford did I.e. buy players from the next level up.

Re: Evostik playoffs
SS 3-2 up now...
Sounds like Buxton are putting up a fight
Hope they come up this season, would be good to have another Local Game, even if they are in a better financial position than us and competing for the same players.
Hopefully Morpeth and maybe Dunston and any ambitious Northern League Club (if there is any) will progress in time

Re: Evostik playoffs
Only the Divisional Final.
Winners of that go into a super playoff this year with the southern evostik leagues

Re: Evostik playoffs
Any Ex Darlo players on the score sheet?
Re: Evostik playoffs
Bit of an issue with the super playoff - both of the Evostik Southern semi-finals tomorrow have been postponed because of a possible ineligible player at one of the clubs (Stratford). Kings Lynn, Alvechurch and Stourbridge not happy, especially Stour whose ground gets handed over to Stourbridge Cricket club at the weekend.
Re: Evostik playoffs
Gillies got the fourth. No place for Brown or Callaghan, but Turnbull came off the bench in the second half.
Re: Evostik playoffs
Personally would like SS to stay down for 1 more season until we're sorted with a new manager as we're more likely to be in competition with them over the same pool of players if they're in the same division.
Re: Evostik playoffs
Now scheduled for this Friday with the divisional final on Monday 6th. Super final (v. Shields or Warrington) on Sat 11th. SS or Warrington will be at home as they both have better PPG ratio than any of the SPL Central play off contenders.polam wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 8:57 pmBit of an issue with the super playoff - both of the Evostik Southern semi-finals tomorrow have been postponed because of a possible ineligible player at one of the clubs (Stratford). According to Look North tonight, the play-final will be at South Shields.biccynana wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 5:25 pmNow scheduled for this Friday with the divisional final on Monday 6th. Re: Evostik playoffs
SS v Warrington will be at SS as the higher placed team gets home advantage. As I said above, whoever wins that game will get home advantage in the super play off as both SS and Warrington have better PPG ratios than any of the Southern Prem Central play off contenders.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 6:35 pmAccording to Look North tonight, the play-final will be at South Shields.biccynana wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 5:25 pmNow scheduled for this Friday with the divisional final on Monday 6th. Re: Evostik playoffs
Stratford deducted 3 points for ineligible player so remain in play offs but won't play their semi against King's Lynn until Monday 6th (the other semi is tomorrow). Winner of Stratford/KL tie will then need to fit in divisional final in time for super play off final on Sat 11th.
Re: Evostik playoffs
Getting farcical. FA has over-ruled Evostik South and instructed the KL/Stratford tie to be played this Sunday instead.
Re: Evostik playoffs
I'd probably prefer Shields to come up. We will compete for players, sure, but it'd be good to have another local game. Presumably their ground will need some work doing, even for this level.
Either way, it'd give us a good away day, and a bumper home crowd as well when we host them, as they travel in decent numbers.

Re: Evostik playoffs
Moved again. Semis tomorrow, final Monday. By my reckoning that's the fourth different set of dates. And Stourbridge have had to cede home advantage in the semis.
Re: Evostik playoffs
Indeed - Stourbridge finished 3rd so were at home in the playoffs, but because of 4 days of faffing around by the Southern League and FA they have to play away instead having handed over their ground (they have a cricket/football arrangement like Northampton Town pre Sixfields (or like Feethams before the original Tin Shed)). And if they win tomorrow they have to travel to Kings Lynn (or Stratford) two days later, then if they win that they're off to Shields or Warrington on Saturday. Meanwhile Shields/Warrington can take it easy and do some scouting on their possible opponents.

Re: Evostik playoffs
Could this be classed as a bit of a shock result? We know that South Shields are similar to Spendy in financial clout, are Warrington still running off their cup run or do they have significant financial investment?

Re: Evostik playoffs
Not sure how I feel about Shields not going up, would have been good to get another NE team in the league but they would have been strong at this level.
Either way it's a loss of say £5k to the club next season, which isn't massive in the grand scheme of things but the away support/crowd would be nice as not many clubs bring any to BM.
Instead we get Warrington, Alvechurch or King's Lynn not exactly inspiring!

Re: Evostik playoffs
For purely selfish reasons I'm hoping Kings Lynn make it this season, would be a 'home in time for tea' game for me. And knowing Darlo fans we would still have the best away following of the season at the ground.

Same for me. Live near Boston. Where are you based Alfie?
