Re: Released players
Nothing against whickham and i get barlett and finnegan might want to play local due to work commitments but surely theres bigger clubs than whickham in the area, hebburn for starters. As i said the other day has whickham has whickham come into money, avoided relegation due to league been short and never used to have a pot to piss in
I may not live in the north east anymore but i still support the north east teams
Re: Released players
You get the strong impression that South Shields are about to push the boat out with a couple of big striker signings following the departures of Cogdon, Finnigan and now Harmison.

Re: Released players
They may not be that attractive a proposition being in the league below us even though they may have the cash.FC United and Ashton will push them next season along with Scarborough, Warrington and possibly Nuneaton so they could easily miss out again.LoidLucan wrote:You get the strong impression that South Shields are about to push the boat out with a couple of big striker signings following the departures of Cogdon, Finnigan and now Harmison.

Apparently he’s turned them down along with Shields.QUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 12:40 pmBlimey, cannot believe that.SoTaylor, Boyes, Tuton and now Cogdon Wonder if McGuire is a no go then?LoidLucan wrote:Cogdon back at Spenny at the age of 36.

Re: Released players
I'd be amazed if he had turned them down after hearing the eye popping wage and signing on fee that they are willing to offer.Darlo_CR wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 12:53 pmApparently he’s turned them down along with Shields.QUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 12:40 pmBlimey, cannot believe that.SoTaylor, Boyes, Tuton and now Cogdon Wonder if McGuire is a no go then?LoidLucan wrote:Cogdon back at Spenny at the age of 36.

They certainly need a 5th quality striker to sit on the bench whilst they play their 1 up front formation (and they're not going to drop Taylor are they?) Madness.

Until he is signed by anyone there's always a chance he has spoken and committed to A. A. You never know.

Re: Released players
Would anyone be interested in Scott Loach after his release from pools?

Re: Released players
Wouldn't be uninterested.
But I do wonder if the way we get value for money in the keepers spot is to go down the loan route again. Neither Hemmings or Turner let themselves down while they were with us (following on from Pears who was outstanding) and it's likely they were costing us next to nothing compared to an experienced keeper.
Re: Released players
I would look to bring in Turner if we have the opportunity did excellent when he came in and I would also bring in Smith from Barnsley. Not sure if he has been released but word was we were looking to sign him.

Re: Released players
Yeah I’m sure I heard that Smith was all set to sign in the summer whilst TW was still in charge.

Re: Released players
Re: Released players
Reading between the lines he was on a good wedge at Hartlepool and had been asked to take a wage drop to which he’s declined. I’m sure with his pedigree he’ll get another decent full time deal
Re: Released players
Yes I can see your point. I like to scour the released lists of local clubs like pools, spenny, york, gateshead etc to see who's available
Re: Released players
Your trying to convince yourselves that you have the best player, buddle played every game towards the end of season, 42 games overall, keep dreamingQUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 4:28 pmDidn't AA play Laing ahead of Buddle towards the end of the season?

Re: Released players
Whilst I don't normally agree with you Polarbear as you are a very strange person at the best of times but on this one I do agree.
If I had the choice then I would have picked Buddle, however I haven't seen either play often enough. Another good signing for Spenny though, pressure on for promotion for you guys anything else will be failure - although I think you have the squad to do it this year and no doubt will still make a signing or two more.

I think that is fair comment.super_les_mcjannet wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 9:29 pmWhilst I don't normally agree with you Polarbear as you are a very strange person at the best of times but on this one I do agree.

However, I have only seen them play when we were playing against them. And judging by last seasons games I wouldn't say either were outstanding.
I will trust AA in his judgement of a player and motivation skills. We know we can't compete financially with Spenny at this moment in time. But we will eventually.
Re: Released players
Scott Fenwick's back in the North-east after his time with Chelmsford and looking for a club. He says there's been interest from several non-league clubs up here and he's a much improved player these days.

Re: Released players
Shaun Tuton released by Spennymoor.
Re: Released players
All right for a penalty shoot-out after his successive hat-tricks from the spot. How does any team get awarded six penalties in two games anyway?

Re: Released players
Scrap that. He’s going to play abroad.
Re: Released players
Just reading that Gainsborough have pretty much sorted their squad for next season and there's no mention of Liam Hughes. Looks like he's gone but they haven't said a word about it.
