Yawn.

It's only funny when I do it.

Sounds like loads of clubs were after him.

Any good shouts for alternatives then?

Boyes at Spenny - Not really realistic I imagine due to wages and need for a transfer fee.

Beesley at BPA - Also unlikely to be realistic, unless their budget is to be dramatically reduced.

Northern League - The next Glen Taylor would be nice. Any possibilities?

I wouldn't be surprised if we look to youngsters released from the North East academies. AA said he knows pretty much all the Boro youth lads from his time coaching there.

If we are to look into the Northern League, Mark Fitzpatrick of Dunston or Michael Sweet would be good picks!

Fitzpatrick might do OK - or there's Craig Hutchinson from Billingham who've just won the second division - 42 goals last season (and 51 a couple of seasons ago). Not sure how old either of them are though?

When I saw Michael Sweet last season (at Bishop) he didn't do much then got himself needlessly sent off!!

Dominic Knowles would be my option - released by Harrogate and his scoring record at NLN level is phenomenal. May be a slight concern around his fitness though so would need to ensure his ankle is up to it - don’t want to end up with another Ainge. Not too dissimilar to Maguire so should fit into AA’s preferred style of play

His goalscoring record looks average at best.

We may just start with Ainge up front and see how it goes for a while?

We will sign a striker, just a question of who really.

Interested to see how Armstrong does on this front, he was given Maguire so an early challenge for him no how to get someone similar in his squad.

I would be quite happy for Amar Purewal to come back.

York were one of a number of clubs said to be interested in freed Sunderland striker Connor Shields, 21. I think he wants to be full-time and there's interest from Scotland as well. Only ever played for the Under 23s at Sunderland.

Purewal was out of his depth in the glue league.Certainly not up to our level now.

He wasn't out of his depth at all in the Evostik!

Maybe the NLN was a step too far but then again he only made a handful of appearances at this level after a long term injury, but when he played he didn't look too bad, and scored a couple.

Saw Amar purwal play for west Auckland against Chertsey town in the fa vase last season he was marked out of the game - trust.me he is only a shadow of his former self and definitely not national League north standard.

He was ravaged by injury, not hindered by ability.

Would I build the team around him? No.
Could be he a positive addition to the squad? Yes.

Not really, it's always hard to tell when you have a new manager. Armstrong obviously fishes in the NE football pool but not sure they are any obvious candidates currently.

I would like us to give a Northern League/Evostik lad a chance as a squad player, whilst finding someone else to lead the line who has a bit of experience if possible.

Considering he done well at National League level, then had a pop at League 1, I don't think he will popping into National North anytime soon.

On the basis of one game. Hope you didn't see Harry Kane in the Champions League final.

If we are saying that Amar who ended up 2nd in the goalscoring charts isn’t good enough then aren’t we saying that non in the NL would be good enough?
