Re: Ben Hedley
Midfielder in all the articles online. Very odd signing.
Re: Ben Hedley
Signed by the now ex manager as his first signing who had coached him at Morecambe. New manager comes in wants to make changes, face doesn’t fit. Gateshead born so another local lad and by all accounts a leader despite still only being 20.HarrytheQuaker wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 10:28 pmHe only signed for them in june, strange one that

Re: Ben Hedley
No they had two players with similar names, Headley was the goalscorer and we are signing Hedley. Maybe their manager wants to cut out some confusion in his squad?divas wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 10:54 pmSigned by the now ex manager as his first signing who had coached him at Morecambe. "The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"
Re: Ben Hedley
States he is a midfielder so is he going alongside Hatfield or has he previously played as a right back?

Re: Ben Hedley
Looking at the BPA squad list they only have one player called Hedley, and have no Headley?real_darlo_85 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 5:24 amNo they had two players with similar names, Headley was the goalscorer and we are signing Hedley. Re: Ben Hedley
Very strange signing, do we not have a specialist 20 year old right back in Cameron Holliday?

Not that strange really, presume AA doesn’t feel he is ready to be thrown into the first team.OnTheTerraces wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 7:32 amVery strange signing, do we not have a specialist 20 year old right back in Cameron Holliday?
Seemed average to ok in friendlies to me but I don’t see him week in/week out in training.

Re: Ben Hedley
It's strange if this Hedley is a midfielder though? When everyone is fit we will have plenty of midfielders to pick from.super_les_mcjannet wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 7:44 amNot that strange really, presume AA doesn’t feel he is ready to be thrown into the first team.OnTheTerraces wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 7:32 amVery strange signing, do we not have a specialist 20 year old right back in Cameron Holliday?

He must be a right back though, surely?
Re: Ben Hedley
Just hope AA wasn't confused and thought he had signed J Headley the goalscorer. The squad is looking very stretched with long term injuries as well as international call-ups, so AA's hand is being forced to add players.

Re: Ben Hedley
Well he has been signed as a RB, however BPA fans seem to think he is better as a midfielder so who knows.Ghost_Of_1883 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 7:47 amIt's strange if this Hedley is a midfielder though? Re: Ben Hedley
The Bermuda lads play tonight and Sunday so back for next week.
This lad is a midfielder and at 20 it’s not like he’s an experienced pro who can fill in a position like David Atkinson and Will Hatfield can.

Who we signed from the Northern League, and not ready for NLN football?OnTheTerraces wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 7:32 amVery strange signing, do we not have a specialist 20 year old right back in Cameron Holliday?
I’d trust AA’s judgement over yours.
Re: Ben Hedley
According to Stoddart, he has been signed to play right-back.OnTheTerraces wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 8:42 amThe Bermuda lads play tonight and Sunday so back for next week.

Let’s not write him off before we’ve seen him play, FFS.

Re: Ben Hedley
In Hedley’s own words, he’s a central midfielder predominantly who can also play RB.
Re: Ben Hedley
He was number 16 who came on against us. Can't say I remember him. The other Headley or Hedley who scored was a left sided attacker possibly number 11 or 7Ghost_Of_1883 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 7:29 amLooking at the BPA squad list they only have one player called Hedley, and have no Headley?real_darlo_85 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 5:24 amNo they had two players with similar names, Headley was the goalscorer and we are signing Hedley. Re: Ben Hedley
If you are going to sign a right back, sign a right back. Holness is a midfielder who showed he could probably fill in at right back - why sign another? Will he get in to our midfield when Liddle fit for example? If not, then not sure I see the reasoning.

Yeah you're right, they signed Headley on a season long loan just before playing us.D_F_C wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 11:59 amHe was number 16 who came on against us. Can't say I remember him. Re: Ben Hedley
The Hedley signing was set up before Holness had to come on and play right back. We didn't know Holness could do that job, at that time.HarryCharltonsCat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 1:03 pmIf you are going to sign a right back, sign a right back. Yeah Simpson says "So you're a right back" and then Ben explains "centre midfielder predominately but can play right back".Darlogramps wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 9:12 amIn Hedley’s own words, he’s a central midfielder predominantly who can also play RB.
Looks like everyone is briefed he is a RB but he still sees himself as a midfielder mainly.

Re: Ben Hedley
Fair enough. The point was more why sign a midfielder who can play right back rather than a right back. Not like we're crying out for another midfielder when all fit.Ghost_Of_1883 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 1:30 pmThe Hedley signing was set up before Holness had to come on and play right back. It depends who is available within budget I guess.
Re: Ben Hedley
Exactly - you can't just magic up an experienced right back within budget at short notice.Ghost_Of_1883 wrote:It depends who is available within budget I guess.

Also, I think Liddle is going to be first choice while Trotman is out. So it doesn’t make sense to sign a specialist RB who may not even get on the bench.
But with Trotman out, Liddle and Wheatley only just returning from injury, Bascome on international duty now (and will be again in future) and Atkinson injured too, he’ll get plenty of opportunities at RB or CM.

Re: Ben Hedley
Who said experienced. We've signed a not very experienced midfielder to play there. It would also let Liddle play in his favoured position, rather than filling in for a season. Personally, think we are well enough stocked for midfielders, but it's another body in so hope it works out for him.

Cam holliday, was not from hartlepool ,he was a Carlisle youth player. Where did you get the idea he was at hartlepool.

He played for Hartlepool as a youth player.
See here where he’s listed as playing for Hartlepool.
