They are two divisions below and currently 4th bottom. However this doesn't mean much to us and they have just beat Bamber Bridge 3-0 (division above them) to get to this round.

Sadly this seems the only reaction we can handle

As always I really hope we can manage even just one win this season, the draw is reasonable for us however they will be well up for it.

It’s not a bad draw, although their ground is tiny. There’s a big bank for fans to stand on, rather like Heritage Park.

But given how bad our record in the Cup is, I just can’t be confident at all.

I think we’ve only won one FA Cup game sine demotion, which was West Auckland in a replay five years ago.

By my reckoning, last time we won a FA Cup match at the first time of asking was Bristol Rovers at the Arena in 2010.

On paper, a decent draw - a team struggling 2 divisions lower. But we've had plenty of 'decent' draws recently, so I'll be suprised if anyone is confident about us winning

Worth noting that Stratford Town won their qualifier 7-2 so at least we've avoided them. Wright might have mastered cup matches by now so if we get past Trafford it could happen. :o

Whatever happens we'll get some money and don't we share gate receipts after expenses?

Do they play at the ground where we played against Nantwich or was it Northwich a few years ago.
If I remember correctly there was a cloudburst at half time?

No, that was Flixton, think it was Northwich 1874? Thommo hid in the dugout when the hail came. Horrible wasn't it? Another time we took our bikes in. Pretty sure Trafford play in Urmston, lots of pubs nearby.

Fair enough. I put Trafford FC in a search and the address was Urmston but now I've looked again and see what you mean. Is that the same Flixton ground Dalodah is talking about then? I don't want to do a Darlo Pete!

I put Trafford FC and Flixton FC into Google Maps and they seem to be just 1.4 miles apart !

We avoided them by virtue of them not being in the northern section of the draw.

It's where I thought it was, an Urmston address and not that old Flixton ground.

Here is our recent history (tier in brackets) attendence on the end
2014-15
Preliminary round
West Auckland Town (9) 1–1 Darlington 1883 (8) 1,238
replay Darlington 1883 (8) 3–1 West Auckland Town (9) 932
first round qualifying
Darlington 1883 (8) 0–0 Blyth Spartans (7) 1,051
replay Blyth Spartans (7) 3–0 Darlington 1883 (8) 652

2015-16
first round qualifying
Darlington 1883 (7) 1–3 Hyde United (7) 902

2016-17
second round qualifying
Lancaster City (8) 2–1 Darlington 1883 (6) 580

2017-18
second round qualifying
Darlington (6) 0–3 South Shields (8) 1,814

2018-19
second round qualifying
15 Darlington (6) 0–1 Bradford Park Avenue (6) 1,037

6 games:
higher tier played 1 won 0 (Blyth)
same tier played 2 won 0 (Hyde and BPA)
lower tier played 3 won 1 (West, Lancaster & South Shields)

Not great reading, but 3 of the losses did come against higher or same tier teams. The Hyde game we shouldn't have been losing, but the BPA was kind of expected as they were up the top that year.

The South Shields game, we got utterly mullered and we shouldn't have ever lost to a Lancaster side 2 tiers down

Christ that makes depressing reading. I think I’ve had Dissociative amnesia because I knew our cup form was bad but not that bad!

True it is depressing reading, but in the past. Gray didn't give a monkeys about cup games and Wright was always clueless.
Armstrong isn't like that, and with a much fitter and better organised squad once players return and injuries heal, this time we will progress in the cup.

Very true, I have a lot of faith in Alun Armstrong and we’ve been ridiculously unlucky with injuries so far. I’m just trying not to get too hopeful because this is Darlo afterall 😂

Time is not on our side with some long term injuries, but at least the international lads may be reinvigourated on their return.

I think this year we have a squad with a few key players who can allow us to really go at these lower league clubs.

The trickery of Rivers, the pace of Campbell and Di was and the energy and aggression of Hatfield may prove to be too much for them.

Is this a cunning plan so they win by default when we don't turn up in time to play?
Probably another way we will not qualify for next round (again)

Given how much he dislikes me engaging in long-winded and pointless argument, it’s rather amusing to see Don’tBuyTheSun now doing just that.

As someone who lives that way and has been to the ground several times before, I can confirm it is Flixton, not Urmston. (Not that you need my word for it, as Trafford themselves say it’s Flixton)
