Durham FA Challenge cup

Post by Alfie » Wed Oct 23, 2019 8:57 am

Whickam away tonight (Wed).

Guess we will be putting out a youth/fringe players team - maybe give our returning internationals a run out.

Wonder if any ex-Darlo will be playing and out to impress.

The comments from fans on here make interesting reading. Will Darrell Clarke be manager when we go there?. I seem to remember many moons ago we played 3-4 clubs on the trot and after each game they sacked their managers. Funny feeling Walsall may have been 1 of them

Will Jonny Burn get a nice reception from Darlo fans?

No idea how that happened. I was reading the thread about the cup match at Walsall.

Whickham, fifth bottom of the Northern League despite all their spending for a "new era", described tonight as a "huge game" against National North side Darlington. Our side included Elliott, Bascome, Donowa and Bell, the rest youngsters, although there is a player called Steve Johnson on the bench.... is that THE Steve Johnson? No sign of Burn at all. 3-0 to Whickham latest. Hardly anyone there.

Think it could well be Stevie Johnson's son from my understanding.

With the players on show I thought it would be a tighter result, shows huge difference between youth and first team players and why AA never wanted to throw them in when we had such a long list of injuries.

Also highlights the difference between the first and second division as half the team also turn out for NL2 sides according to the pre match blurb.

Harry, there's no blame attached in that post, it is a statement of fact. He didn't appear last night against our largely youth team but he did make his league debut for them in a hammering by Bishop. He is a player who has just left us in controversial circumstances and there was a lot of discussion about him. Fair enough if you're not interested, don't read it or bother to comment. Then you won't cause yourself so much angst.

Think Harry is Burns grandad. But there again,Harry seems to be everyone’s grandad if anything negative is said about any player.

Harry could find the negative in a Justin Trudeau sound bite.
