A loan would not work in the cup as they have to be signed pre first game, and not sure if it has changed but in the old days there was a qualifying period to play in the trophy. (Think it was something like 2 weeks before the match but not sure).H1987 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 4:49 pmI'd be amazed if they don't go. They're probably gutted to miss our game... but come on. They're playing Mexico. Sadly for them it's not in the Azteca, but a smaller ground (although that probably means it'll be packed out). Once in a lifetime game for them. I don't begrudge either of them at all.
I wonder if we can get in a short term loan to bolster the squad? Even a youth loan from Boro or Sunderland. As i mused earlier, Bell & Holliday could be available. They might be on loan or dual registration terms themselves. But we could still do with someone else to boost numbers a little, the bench is very, very thin without the boys from Bermuda.

One way round it is for the rain to keep coming down in Brackley & Darlo but forecast doesn't look too bad

I know we have a massive cup game next week, but we really need the Brackley game to go ahead, as we'll end up in a massive fixture backlog if it doesn't go ahead. Going down to Brackley for a midweek fixture isn't a good idea for the team or fans that go to away games.

The other side is Brackley is an injury risk for Wednesday...

Fingers crossed everyone stays fit over the weekend
Re: The Squad for Brackley and FA Cup
Armstrong has had bad luck this season but it hasn't stopped him revitalizing the club. I haven't known a manager at Quakers so good at getting the team to play for a long time. Mark Cooper in the cup might have been the last one. AA is so good he's stopped me pining for you know who.
Re: The Squad for Brackley and FA Cup
Agreed although double postponement does seem like the only way to get the Bermudan boys back & more time for Atkinson et al to get match fit.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 9:30 amI know we have a massive cup game next week, but we really need the Brackley game to go ahead, as we'll end up in a massive fixture backlog if it doesn't go ahead. In the Echo, AA trying to get Jack Lambert plus another on loan in time for Saturday.
Lids could well be fit for the Walsall replay. If this is the case, then with a change of personnel we could at least have one sub to cover each area of the pitch (Armstrong forward, Laing defence, Hedley midfield, although would mean a back 4 of Watson, Liddle, Storey and Galbraith).
Out of interest, some of our youth players who played in the Durham Senior Cup v Whickham, I assume that some of these could play in either game if need be because surely they would have to have been registered for this game.
As regards Bell and Holliday, they can't be recalled within the 1st 28 days of their loan. However, it depends when they were registered. Ray Simpson's report on the Darlo website is dated the 25th Oct. For them to be eligible on the 20th for Walsall, their registration would have to have gone through on the 24th Oct. The 20th November is 29 days after this.

Registered on 27th
Re: The Squad for Brackley and FA Cup
What about Morrison and Stansfield. Thought they were dual registration so surely we get first pick so to speak.
Re: The Squad for Brackley and FA Cup
I kind of get what you’re saying, but who’s he going to play in front of? He’s got Thompson, Campbell, rivers and donawa all ahead of him. Holmes will be ahead when he’s back. Kneeshaw potentially if he was to sign. Now the new loan lad as well.
I personally wouldn’t have been amused if Donawa was left on bench

Re: The Squad for Brackley and FA Cup
Genuine question, can Elliott ( or has he ever ) played as an outfield player ? Just thinking of next Wednesday, if we pick any injuries on Saturday . Plenty of outfield players don the jersey when keepers get sent off, remember Garry Brown doing not a bad job between the sticks
Re: The Squad for Brackley and FA Cup
Remember Stuart Pearce and his cunning plan to get man city into Europe by playing David James as a striker, with zero advance notice to the player himself?
And people wonder why there aren't more top tier English managers...

Mason Hurworth and Steven Johnson both in the squad. Both have played recently for Shildon and Steven is our U23 manager's son.

After last Saturday I’d definitely say Laing could be pressed in as a makeshift forward. He caused mayhem on the Ssddlers’ defence and won all flick-ons
Re: The Squad for Brackley and FA Cup
Laing will have to be in defence tomorrow

That will probably be the team Nick unless AA decides to find a place for Laing and moves Storey to RB.grimsbyquaker wrote:Holness will play RB, New lad in midfield?

Re: The Squad for Brackley and FA Cup
Holness has been too good in midfield. I think he'll shift the back 4 around and Lambert will be on the bench.
