Solihull Moors Away - FA Trophy 1st Rnd

The draw.

Not great, they are a battling decent team and a trip away.

Near top of national league, won 9 out of 11 home league games. If we get anything out of this it would be a bigger achievement than Walsall.

If we can match Walsall over 2 games we can certainly get a result against them.Think they are a big physical side so contrasting styles.Draw could have been a lot kinder but it will be close the same as Walsall.

Com'on lads it's a winnable game the way we have been playing, just short on Wednesday against walsall, so
i don't think solihull game will be a harder game .
Contrasting styles of play so every chance of getting over the line. Onwards and upwards with DFC

I had it in my head they were fan owned? I could well be wrong

Either way, we will probably get pushed aside easily. A team flying at the top of the conference is a much harder proposition than a team struggling at the bottom of League 2.

I didn't know they were bankrolled, I thought they were one of the good ones. I too could well be wrong.

A lot of NL sides don't take Trophy that seriously. With Solihull pushing for promotion, they may well feel a weakened team.

The perfect combination of an away trip, about as far away as was possible at this stage of the draw, against a better team we stand to probably lose against, and a crap day out with a tiny crowd.

Absolutely get in the sea.

Well no one knew BPA were bankrolled and thought Bower was working miracles on a shoestring.

Call me an old cynic but Solihull Moors are able to sign players from here there and everywhere on to full time contracts, and their crowds so far this season are 1,591. Last season, when they went full time, the crowds were less. Where is the money coming from to pay a full time squad?

The figures don't stack up for me.

An interesting point, and probably the only chance we have of getting anything positive out of this game. I saw them on TV recently- they looked a really no nonsense, physical/tough side.

Paul McCallum who scored a shedload of goals for Eastleigh turned down Football League offers to sign for Solihull in the summer. Although it may have just been the vibes :D

Some positives firstly they were knocked out of the fa trophy last season by AFC Telford United when they were playing a lot better than they are now so proves a team from our league can beat them in their own back yard. Secondly we're unbeaten in cup games in Birmingham this season. And finally for ground hoppers who support darlo it's a new ground to scratch.

Obvously as a fan owned club, their BTB must have been about 500k eh?

Of course not, because they're a tinpot club with no history, who were playing in front of 300 or so 3 or 4 seasons ago. They don't have many "real" fans that aren't bandwagonners and bandwaggoners don't "do" running their club, they only "do" glory, and walk when it dries up

As if to think a club with a core few hundred fans are doing this without outside investment. I'm calling, shite, shite and shite.

They are owned by the very wealthy Darryl Eales, who used to own Oxford United and years ago put in a £30m bid to buy Birmingham City. It's not some kind of incredible romantic fairytale that they are riding high in the National League. It's down to being well-resourced.

Well whaddaya know? How about that eh?

Another club who successfully keep their investment a bit quiet and let everyone think that they're some kind of well ran role model club to be admired. Here's me thinking it was all down to the so called cash cow that the 4g pitch is, and loads of pie and pea sales.

I knew something stunk as soon as they wen't full time in the NL as their gates hadn't even reached 1,000 when the decision was made.

They seem pretty open on their website about owners, directors and stuff. I don't really get the animosity as the vast majority of clubs have owners and board members chucking money in. The draws exactly that, pure luck who we get and it seems pretty pointless guessing or hoping who we'll get!

One thing's for sure, they won't be short of numbers for the tie. They've just signed a player on loan who will wear the squad number 32. I reckon Moors are the Pride of the Midlands.

Who remembers when we played predecessor Solihull Borough in the FA Cup? 22 years ago

Was played at Moor Green's ground though.

"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

In the 1st match, the 'exhibitionist' referee Uriah Rennie played 12 minutes of additional time awaiting the moment to give Solihull a ridiculous penalty in the final seconds.

Oh i remember it well, uriah Rennie being accused of brown envelop acceptance at the time think it was Rennie,s first season in the football league.one hell of a lot of controversy over where 12 mins extra time came from .i believe his first game in the league was at Darlington, might have that wrong mind.

That was actually in the replay down at their place after the infamous cash in the bag case with the referee in the cricket club he told David hodgson his watch had stopped apparently. Nasty piece of work Uriah Rennie also corruptly failed to award Hereford two stonewall penalties against Brighton in a televised sky match which kept the seagulls in the football league.

Solihull Borough + Moor Green + Rich Owner = Solihull Moors, "Pride of the Midlands"
Evenwood Town + Spennymoor United + Rich Owner = Spennymoor Town, "Pride of County Durham"

Is this where Uncle Brad got his ideas from ?

You are talking bollocks.
They are NOT bankrolled. They have a bloody big carpark that they rent space out to to all the car workers next door. Cash in the pot every day.

If you want to slate clubs at least go at it with some knowledge, and perhaps, don't believe an 18 month old BBC article type story for your "information"
