Away Kit

Post by The Golden Hairclip » Tue Feb 04, 2020 8:26 pm

A vote will be out soon. In anticipation, it would be good to know people’s view on the colour. Is red seen as the new tradition now or perhaps yellow, which we used to wear fairly consistently during the 80s & 90s or do people like a complete change / left field choice each season?

I'm firmly in the 'don't care' camp on this one.

The red ones usually seem to be popular, but really we can use any colour that isn't black and white can't we?

How about yellow and black bumblebee hoops? Anyone?

I liked the purple one that narrowly lost last time to the Dennis the Menace kit.

This seasons away kits is one of the best we’ve had for a long time, and I reckon will have out sold this seasons home kit comfortably.

Remember, it’s only a football shirt, and that it’s a revenue driver for the club. And as a fan owned club, we sort of rely on stuff like this to consolidate and hopefully grow.

Well I’d go for either yellow and black along the lines of this (Puma) design

https://www.uksoccershop.com/p-92560/20 ... wIQAvD_BwE

Or alternatively something along the lines of the green & black hooped away shirt from the (I think) Hutchison telecom days.

So on the basis I guess that I never get the shirt right we will probably be in Milanese red and black stripes

Unfortunately we do have some restrictions on away shirts which means we can’t get something bespoke so it’s more which colour rather than which design

Can we have any standard Puma design?

They have a decent range

https://www.prodirectsoccer.com/l/mens/ ... type-tops/

Plenty to choose from if these are all available to us

Puma issue a brochure for football clubs which contains a specific range of stock kits. It doesn’t include most of these.

After last week's activities, I think the safest thing to do would be to make the away shirt black and white hoops as well.

that could be confusing better to make it white hoops where the black ones were and white where black they were previously

Was always red, AFAIK?

Certainly in the 70s and I thought up until then?

Wonder if we could get an extra shirt sponsor (bottom of the neck / under the shirt number) and it is priced accordingly to include matching the actual shirt colours to that of the business colour scheme...

Maybe a bit late for that this season...so I'd be in favour of orange mentioned above.

It's a pity we can't adopt Rugby League style shirts sponsorship, as they have multiple sponsors on their shirts.

Some Rugby League shirts have perhaps up to 10 sponsors on their shirts. Not sure if multiple sponsors are allowed on football shirts?

Four allowed on shirt - front, back and x2 sleeves (1 is compulsory league sponsor)

Which is why some of them look like a hyperactive child's colouring in book.

Load of !!!!!!!. Most RL clubs favour keeping the same colour but changing styles vastly every season to bump sales. Putting the sponsors logos on often calms the look down.

It would also help clubs finances if they followed the RL clubs and sponsored the posts etc

Pete, went and checked a few backdated KR shirts and all have 10 sponsors on them. I had never even noticed that each sleeve has a different sponsor, and of course away are all different to home, thus 20 shirt sponsors a year then we all do the "charity" shirt thus adding another load,(split between the clubs and the chosen charity) so you are talking 30 shirt sponsors a season !!! Blimey, and Darlo struggled to get 1 a couple of years ago.

Coming back on the topic of advertising on shirts, in today's telegraph they report kids are being charged up to £700 to be a mascot.
RL clubs all have a list of young members and they are invited on a rota basis to be mascots NO CHARGE.
Surely it is worth a patch or 2 on the shirt rather than extort families to give kids this experience and get them involved with the players and club?

Sorry, I absolutely disagree. I detest advertising plastered all over shirts. There is enough on there already.

We're Darlington Football Club, not an advertising board.
