Gold Blend is more my cup of tea!
Seriously we need to forget about Trotman and move on. He may be just one of those players with talent who doesn’t make it in football because circumstances conspired against him. He has had two major injuries and it will take a lot to come back from them. Add in geographical problems his university studies and a doubt about his longer term commitment to football and it just seems not the right thing for us anymore. Nice lad wish him well but anyone wanting to sign him will be taking a risk.

Compensation is on the cards here because he is under 24 - on DFC news website.

I think compensation might be in the form of some kind of sell on deal.. Guess we will have to wait and see.

It would be settled in a tribunal if the two clubs cannot agree a deal.

Yep. Sadly, I’m not sure he’s that interested in football anymore. If he doesn’t play again, we get nowt.

Maybe Trotman will go to Corby with Tommy to get fit. He could put himself in the shop window.

don't agree with the idea that he's not bothered by football. I think he'll be committed but it takes a lot to travel 3/4 hours up for a training session and a game all the time. He's looking at the bigger picture which is for himself and his family, and I have no problem in someone doing that.

He was a TW signing it’s obvious Alun wants his own players in which I totally get .
I have to say when I’ve been in hospitality Luke always had time for people and would spend time chatting to fans, which this last season neither players or management team tend to spend much time in hospitality which when you have spent paying £45 grates on me a little.
Good luck Luke in what happens next.

I don't think it's got anything to do with AA wanting his own players. It's all about what Trotman wants for his own future. AA's stated intention was to develop Trotman into a Football League player but the player sees his future elsewhere which probably isn't surprising given where he lives and the other opportunities that may be opening up for him.

Trotman has had his head turned towards becoming a Z list celebrity as opposed to anything else. Ultimately, he will probably make more from that than a standard career and semi-pro football, or even the lower reaches of professional football, so I can't blame him.

This is possible depending where in Bedfordshire he lives. Corby is in Northamptonshire which borders Bedfordshire so who knows?

Hopefully Trotts will make a full comeback but he will need a bedding in period wherever he goes because of his injury, I can't see many teams taking a punt on him if they have to pay a fee to get him. While we are in this league we should be looking at players locally, especially when we are part time, and some players have other jobs and commitments.

Yep. We will, quite rightly, be asking for appropriate compensation. While he might not fancy the travel, and that’s fair enough, he signed a contract, and he was paid and supported while injured long term.

I think he might be overplaying his hand a bit if he thinks he’s just going to walk into a national league south / national league outfit prepared to pay for his services. I can’t imagine levels below either fit his ambition nor could they afford the compensation.

Which leads me to believe he’s more bothered about pursuing a celebrity career - although honestly, is he famous enough to do it when the show he was on is all done and dusted? You only get one crack at playing football and being paid for it. He absolutely has the ability to play at a pro level, I believe, if he has fully recovered from his injury. The choice is his, but from a footballing perspective I think returning to us would have made the most sense. I suspect he has chosen the alternative option.

Either way, I wish him luck. He seems a nice lad.

He's also the last of Tommy's signings to leave, depending on whether you could Omar who was really a John Woolnough signing. Was looking at a programme from just over a year ago v Bradford PA on Easter Monday. Just 3 players left from the end of that season - Wheats and Tez who were MG signings and Omar. Quite a big squad transformation.
