It took £900 a week to turn down the astronomical signing on fee he was offered by the Pride last summer.

Sounds like a great candidate to spend a year or two on your bench.

Maguire had his own business so it would have taken a big offer to go full time. Might want to concentrate on it again and go part time. I'm sure AA will be monitoring closely.

Before he signed for York there was rumours that the pride had offered him 950 a week and 20k to sign on. But we were still in the lead to sign him with our offer of a packet of brass buttons and the kudos of playing for a famous old club without a silly fucking twitter hashtag.

It was only full time football that swayed him from us. He was never going to sign for the pride.

Agreed. I think the impression that I got last summer was that it was between us & York for Maguire. Same with Jameson too. Full-time football swayed them both.

Remains to be seen where both of their futures will be this summer, but I would be naive if I suggested Alun hasn’t kept in touch with both since their moves to York.

Maguire played few games for York last year due to injury and therefore never really made an impact with the game or fans. AA mentioned during the season that some players struggle for injuries when training full time, so maybe Maguire himself has rethought his position, (think he worked for his mate and was promised job would always be open if I remember right), so who knows if "supposed rumours" are true in his case. For Jameson I cant see a move, played well for York with a few mistakes but in the main well liked by fans and it would be a massive drop in money I would think, but who knows.
May be York chairman Jason McGill has decided not to keep funding them and wants Watson to reduce costs and they have a good young keeper.
Rumours are just that until the facts come out, but possible interesting times ahead with a great management team in charge of us.

Don’t be so daft Darlo pay good money out, styche 750, Ainge 750 plus Thompson Galbraith Wheatley 500.

If you lot think players are on peanuts you’re even more deluded than I thought.

Spennymoor pay nowhere near out of the above and I know that for a fact.

I won’t be replying anymore as will just end up with a mud slinging match.

Spennymoor pay out nowhere near to £750 per week?! Or even £500 per week?!

How do you get players like Roberts to relocate? Boyes to sit on the bench? Players like Stephen Brogan, Ryan Hall
& Ben McKenna to travel to the North-East?

Do they do it for the love of the game? Or for the pride of County Durham?

So you offer five-figure signing on fees, but peanuts in wages?

And just to point out, Styche & Ainge are no longer at the club. Thompson has just joined Spennymoor because he could get a better deal at your club, than at ours!

The denial is unreal, absolutely unreal!

Well Styche and Ainge are gone and we won't be offering that sort of money again, we simply couldn't afford Styche and had to sell him.

I can believe our top, top few players might be on 500 as you suggested - we do have a c250k playing budget, but it's also an amount that you can't pay too many players without eating up all of the budget very quickly. We clearly pay the majority around 300 a week. There's just not enough budget to pay any more, simple as that.

Now talking of delusion, you are deluded if you think that Spendy don't pay that sort of money out themselves at the very least. You're beyond deluded if you think any player would choose the pride over Darlo on the same terms offered.

Your club's cringeworthy "PrideOf" hashtag is the most tinpot attempt to be relevant that I've ever seen.

From what Shed 7 said, and he "knows for a fact" one assumes that Spennymoors budget was considerably smaller than ours, therefore it must be the "vibes" that good players went there for. We cant compete with that if "true".
As for Styche and Ange he could be right on that money, but we could not afford it so they went, and DJ is on record as saying that a few of our players were on good money and others too little and it would need to be rebalanced, (may be one of the reasons besides vibes that Thommo left?, who knows),

Personally I like Spenny fc, good ground, nice set up and excellent chairman so good luck to them, even more impressed now I 'know for a fact" that there budget is considerably less than ours.🙃

Only the 15k singing on fee you give Thommo alongside £500+ a weekly wage.

Spenny must be worried that we entice some of their players away with our superior budget.
Maybe we will get Jamie Chandler to return 😅

That cannot be so. I'm sure the Pride press statement said there was a "very similar offer on the table from Darlington". Are you saying that they are not being totally candid? Surely they are normally as solid as the pitch-side fencing.

Andy, always rated Thommo as a player but didn't realise he was a decent vocalist too.

I see Connor Simpson is set to be released by Preston North End. He may well end up back at Hartlepool where he started his youth career - but he may well be an option for us if that doesn’t materialise.

Actually I think Stockdale and Armstrong were teammates at Darlington around 2006. You never know ?

Does anyone know if Dale Hopson is available? Played under AA at Blyth and was scoring for fun if I remember correctly. Also noticed Kieran Weledji has been realised by Whitby, could be a defender option if Gailbraith does go.

Hopson was released last I heard, a month or so ago.

Not sure where he'd fit in our set-up though. I think the wage could be better used elsewhere.

AA paid a fee to Whitby to sign Hopson for Blyth and he's now a free agent.

From what I’ve heard hopson struggled while on loan at Thornaby at the back end of last season

I don’t see him being in AA’s plans

I think if we're going to sign a player in the Hopson mould then it will be Jack Lambert.

Lambert hasn’t been offered terms for next season by Scunthorpe, so he is definitely available on a free transfer.
