Boyes is 29

He’s 29 I believeDarlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 5:51 pmApparently he's 38, so I can understand why clubs further up the pyramid wouldn't want to take a risk on him. But he could be a great signing for Marske.JE93 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 4:48 pmAgreed. Not sure how old he is, but was very much expecting him to turn back up at BPA now Bower and Boshell are back in charge. Should score for fun in that league.QUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 4:37 pmThat is a major shock, nothing against Marske but this guy was scoring goals for fun prior to signing for The Pride.Cannot believe he has opted for Marske at this stage of his career.JE93 wrote:See Adam Boyes has signed for Marske. Great signing at that level for them. Would have been very nervous signing him that, depending on any kick back on those betting charges he got back in January/February time.

Is it significant that Marske say it is "subject to League and FA approval" given the background?

That’s fairly standard to be honest. That appears on most transfer statements.LoidLucan wrote:Is it significant that Marske say it is "subject to League and FA approval" given the background?
Re: The Team 20/21 season
It's just that I can't see anything that states the punishment has been handed out and in Boyes' case he had placed 2,768 bets.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
That sent me looking (like you do) and ended up having a read of FA charges of which there are many. No wonder they have so much money! Even our own Mr Armstrong is looking at a three game touchline ban and a £300 fine for alleged insulting/abusive behaviour after the home Guiseley match. He had until May 7th to respond. Fascinating stuff and my new lockdown read.

Well after the Spenny away game their players and /or officials were at it on the pitch, outside the match officials room and in the car park! £1400 fine.

If you fancied a long read Craig Hignett from the Hartlepool v Dover game might keep you occupied.

Anyone got a link for a brother?

Oh it's just a list of charges on the website...there used to be places where the tribunal outcomes were published...they were sometimes interesting.

This is how we are looking at the moment,
Donawa,Hatfield,Rivers,Holmes,Hedley,Reid,Storey,Campbell,Laing,Wheatley,Liddle,Watson,Atkinson, Charman, Hunt.
Obviously we need a goal keeper.
Defenders, Hedley, Storey, Laing, Liddle,Hunt, Watson.
Midfield, Hatfield,Wheatley, Reid, Holmes, Atkinson,
Forwards, Donawa, Campbell, Charman, Rivers.
Anywhere else we might need to strengthen? I know the likes of Reid, Holmes, Atkinson, and Hedley can play in other positions.

Keeper(Loan from boro nufc or Sunderland) Or maybe someone from football league who hasn’t got a clubpoppyfield wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 11:09 amThis is how we are looking at the moment,

Possibly another CM if Holness does go elsewhere but we don’t need one. (People have said about Pattison from Wycombe but I can’t see that happening)
Personally would like another winger to fill the gap of what Thommo’s left(Mondal maybe??)
Also think another striker would be good to have too (Maguire)

Holmes will play as a wide forward, rather than a midfielder.poppyfield wrote:This is how we are looking at the moment,

You could argue he is, in effect, Thommo’s replacement, given he didn’t play much last season because of his injury.
I actually think we could do with a more attack-minded central midfielder, a Jack Lambert-type. That’s the one thing I think we’re missing from that area.
Even though we don’t have an out-and-out RB, I don’t know if AA would sign one. We’ve Hedley and Atkinson who can play there, plus Liddle who can cover. Hunt of course was a RB earlier in his career, but surely he’ll be used as a CB now.
Two or three more, including a goalkeeper and we’ll be there.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
Would still be happy if we could get Jack Lambert, would give us a good attacking midfield option especially if Holness is going to depart.
Other than a goalkeeper after that, which I expected might be a loan from Boro (Hemming or Brynn) or Newcastle (Jake Turner) which would likely happen just before the season, then I think we have a really solid looking squad and looking forward to when we can start playing again.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
I think we need a Goalkeeper (Brynn/Hemming), attacking centre midfielder (Lambert) & another forward (Langstaff or Maguire).
I can imagine Hedley will stay at right-back, with further options in the centre (Hatfield, Wheatley, Reid, Atkinson & possibly Lambert).
Langstaff to provide an option out on the left along with Holmes, or Maguire to come in and be the focal point with Campbell moving out to the left as he did last season when O’Neill started.
Then you have a squad of 18 which Alun is aiming for with enough versatility to cope barring the long-term injuries we saw last season.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
Goalkeeper wise I wonder how Paul Woolston is viewed by Man United. He is no where near the first team that is obvious but more importantly is whether they would see a loan at our level as adding value to his development.
They let Alex Fojticek go out on loan to Stalybridge Celtic last season which was obviously a level below but subsequently released him.

I think Woolston signed a new contract with them prior to lock-down. I can’t see them loaning him out this far down.lo36789 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 11:37 amGoalkeeper wise I wonder how Paul Woolston is viewed by Man United. Talk of Jameson coming seems to have gone quiet too
Re: The Team 20/21 season
Maybe. They don't half stockpile goalkeepers. A quick check on their website suggests they have 12 full time professional goalkeeper on the books - 4 per team (firsts, u23s and u18s).Darlofan97 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 11:38 amI think Woolston signed a new contract with them prior to lock-down. A good outcome for us would be York go up & have to shed a few players deemed not good enough for the step-up & those that can not commit to the extra travelling. I don’t think Jameson would be in this list but a couple of others might be.

Think it will be Adam Wrightson before Langstaff.Darlofan97 wrote:I think we need a Goalkeeper (Brynn/Hemming), attacking centre midfielder (Lambert) & another forward (Langstaff or Maguire).

Re: The Team 20/21 season
We will see. Wrightson seems more of an impact player than an out-and-out starter. Take in to consideration the fact Holmes also had limited starts for Blyth under Alun then there isn’t a leading candidate for that left-wing spot with Donawa & Rivers on the right.QUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 12:30 pmThink it will be Adam Wrightson before Langstaff.Darlofan97 wrote:I think we need a Goalkeeper (Brynn/Hemming), attacking centre midfielder (Lambert) & another forward (Langstaff or Maguire).

Langstaff played predominately out the left for York, and scored quite a few goals there too in limited minutes. Only other option would be Maguire with Campbell moving out on the left as he has done previously.
Re: The Team 20/21 season
Interesting to see AA mention that he’s looking at signing a keeper, an attacking midfielder and striker. Biggest hint that Atkinson is likely to be first choice RB

Because he says Atkinson is the best right back in the league.

Didn't he switch Atkinson from RB to CM at Blyth?
