FA Cup
Good news that the FA are running the FA Cup as normal next year.
Had been fears they'd try and reduce the qualifying rounds to make up for the late start.
889 teams have applied to take part, with only 736 places, meaning draws will take place to establish which Step 6 sides enter (previously would've been league position, but obviously that was expunged for the last campaign).
And we'll enter at the 2nd qualifying round as normal. Fingers crossed for another good cup run this season too.

Re: FA Cup
Great news if true and have no reason to doubt you. Had worried that the recently increased rate was to be reduced again. It’s a massive bonus for the survival of most lower league clubsDarlogramps wrote:Good news that the FA are running the FA Cup as normal next year.

I know you’re a stickler for accuracy Gramps so just one small correction to your otherwise accurate and informative post. The step 6 qualification process is determined on a points per game basis not league position. That is all.Darlogramps wrote:Good news that the FA are running the FA Cup as normal next year.

Re: FA Cup
Ah so basically they are guaranteed to be part of prelims then.
Re: FA Cup
Oh that is strange then - I am almost certain that Prestwich Heys participated in their first season in Step 6.
Sure they played away at Congleton in the extra prelim. Must have been the season after.
Re: FA Cup
Going by the Football Club Historic Database Website it appears Prestwich were promoted to Step 6 at end of 2015-2016 season, but did not compete in FA Cup until 2018-2019 season. http://www.fchd.info/PRESTWIH.HTM
Re: FA Cup
You are right just checked my records for 2016/2017
06/08/2016 - Congleton v New Mills (FA Cup)
01/10/2016 - Congleton v Prestwich Heys (NWC League Cup)
Confusion over opposition / competition.

.
I can claim no credit, I simply used the FCHD website. It's a goldmine of history.
Re: FA Cup
National league suggesting a 3rd October 2020 start for the national league. Suggesting there will be reduced capacity in grounds.
Step 2 clubs will start that weekend with the FA cup 2nd Qualifying round which is where we enter the competition. Before moving to league games in the following week.

Let's all hope a successful vaccine has been found by then.JE93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 7:21 pmNational league suggesting a 3rd October 2020 start for the national league. Suggesting there will be reduced capacity in grounds.

Re: FA Cup
I was more in fear of coming into an FA cup game, first game of the season against a team from one of the leagues below who might have played 4 or 5 competitive fixtures by that point. Not an enticing prospect especially as we all know what the FA cup can be worth financially.Mister e wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:04 pmLet's all hope a successful vaccine has been found by then.JE93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 7:21 pmNational league suggesting a 3rd October 2020 start for the national league. Re: FA Cup
Surely we will have some pre season friendlies before we play any competitive games, even if they are behind closed doors.
Not ideal but the same for all clubs at our level.

Re: FA Cup
Being realistic, even if a successful vaccine were found today, they are not going to have manufactured enough vaccine & distributed it to everyone in the UK by then, especially when every other country in the world will also want to get their hands on the vaccine.Mister e wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:04 pmLet's all hope a successful vaccine has been found by then.JE93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 7:21 pmNational league suggesting a 3rd October 2020 start for the national league. Re: FA Cup
A couple of seasons ago the season started with the FA cup for steps 5 and 6 and the move was very unpopular and FA said they wouldn’t do it again. Well this is now the case for us but these are of course unprecedented times.
