Darlington V Tadcaster Albion FA Cup

Post by poppyfield » Sun Oct 11, 2020 3:54 pm

So after that disappointing performance on Saturday how do we think we will line up?
I think Charman could do with sitting this one out, give him some extra time to recover his hip injury ready for Saturdays league game.
So assuming Hatfield is injured and no return of our other injured players, its really down to bare bones
Saltmer,
McMahon Hunt Storey Liddle,
Hudson Wheatley Hedley Rivers,
Amantchi Donawa.

Subs Watson Reid Laing, Armstrong , plus a couple of youth team.

Weve still got to play our strongest side - it's money in the coffers remember.

Charman could really do with a rest. He’s taken two knocks, and was struggling to run towards the back end of Saturday’s game. It isn’t a case of not putting your strongest team out, it’s a case of protecting a player before your injury situation gets even worse.

I’d put Hedley in for Hatfield. Rest of the team stays as it is. We have the quality in there to win the game, but we need to show more than Saturday in every department.

Charman in the second half was not mobile at all, its going to take him time to build up to playing 90 mins twice a week, he does look a player though and did well playing up top on his own.

To be fair that probably is our strongest side, given the injuries we have

Good opportunity to get back on track tonight. It is a potential banana skin but I’m sure the players would prefer to be playing a game than training. Win tonight and only one more game between us and a potential crack at a FL team. Not to mention the financial boost that would bring.
Will our new signings be eligible to play? I thought there was a rule about having to be signed so long before the tie to be allowed to play.

Had a quick at the rules, (i am no expert) looks to me as long as they were registered before 12 o-clock on Friday they should be ok, unless of course they have played in earlier rounds for another club.

A “registered player” is one who is either, in the case of a player under written
contract, registered with The Association or, in the case of a player without a written
contract, registered with a League in which his Club competes in the current season.
Any such registration must have been received and accepted by The Association or
League by 12 noon on the Friday immediately prior to the date fixed for playing the
Round (the “Registration Deadline”), and the registration must be continuous through
to the date of the match.

According to Bet 365 we are a banker tonight at 1/4. Tadcaster are 15/2.
Hope they are correct but don’t think I am quite so confident.

Could the game be under threat from all this rain, as it's poured down all afternoon in the Darlo area?

Full time 6-1. That will have done our confidence the world of good. The bed wetters should sleep tonight.

Good performances all over the pitch. I thought our energy levels were great tonight. Hedley and Reid in particular, put in a good shift. Credit to Taddy they made a game of it despite the scoreline. Hudson's cameo impresed me as well.

Worth having a word with Sousa to see if he would be interested in playing for us in future.

He was a proper player. Looked threatening everything he got the ball. Surprised he's in that division on tonight's showing.

Spenny & York both lost tonight so no chance of drawing them out of the hat on Thursday. Marske & Blyth game postponed but South Shields got through

I dunno. Do you remember when we drew Bournemouth in the mid 80s when the draw was regionalised Image

Just one sobering thought from tonight. No less than 3 of our fellow NLN teams have had to withdraw from the FA Cup due to Covid positive tests within the squad. Boston, Kettering and Alfreton. Could happen to any club at any time and makes it a bit of a lottery.

Yes, not good news. Orient & Peterborough owners warning that many EFL clubs will be in Administration by January unless financial aid rushed in. :o
On the plus side, saw Bury Town won again

Played a bit for Accy Stanley and Barrow according to wiki and Twitter but definitely worth an ask.

For the time he was on the pitch I thought Hudson looked quite useful in the centre of the park rather than on the wing.
