Re: Erico Sousa
Looked very lively the other night and not surprised AA has enquired.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

Has a decent pedigree. Man City Youth and has actually been around the FL until this summer.
Tadcaster looks like an old haunt and potentially just a foot in the door to keep him in the shop window during the current times.
There are some funny old transfers happening at the moment Chris Dagnall has ended up at Step 3 and Matlock have just taken on a LB straight out of the FL.

Re: Erico Sousa
Leeds based too, so could possibly travel with Hatfield, Hunt & Hudson.
He certainly looked very sharp on Tuesday night and caused us a few problems. Believe he can play on either wing so he would also give us some versatility.

Re: Erico Sousa
Have not seen anything on official website confirming anything regarding Sousa. Is it definite that he is on trial or merely speculation?
Re: Erico Sousa
I doubt you'd see anything official about a player in on trial.
Gary Smith tweeted a picture of the squad training at Hummersknott yesterday, the player crossing the ball looked very much like Sousa.
Re: Erico Sousa
Good if true. The reality is that this year with the season being shoehorned in that you need a bigger squad, especially initially. If we wait until the busy period is over then we could be out of contention. Good to see AA addressing this. It seems to get tougher every year with more and more project clubs and it's getting harder to keep up.
Re: Erico Sousa
So speculation it is then. However from checking their website there is nothing to suggest that Tadcaster played yesterday so he could have been free to train with us.
Re: Erico Sousa
Very much improved performance last night, took our chances well, tadcaster never stopped working, Sousa took the eye cleverly skipped passed 3 darlington players with quick feet shifting the ball well, looked a better player than where he's playing but can't really judge on one game, all in all done the job ,into next round. Well done lads, com,on Darlo.

I really liked what Sousa offered on the night ,hopefully he can reproduce that on a regular basis if he can ,would be a good move bringing him into the squad.

Re: Erico Sousa
With Holmes out for some time he'd be a direct replacement I suppose. Holmes was probably viewed as filling the gap left by Thompson so probably always in the plan to get someone in to cover that role.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Re: Erico Sousa
I assume he is contracted to Tadcaster. If we offered him a contract would a fee be payable? It's probably not wise in the current climate to be buying players.

Re: Erico Sousa
You could be right, but then again it wouldn’t surprise me if he isn’t contracted to Tadcaster. The fact that he is training with us with a view to sign may just indicate he isn’t contracted and just 7-days notice is required. We will see.

Re: Erico Sousa
Having seen the little we have of Sousa, hopefully it was not a one off performance. He looks as though he could add a little guile to our midfield that we definitely need.
Fingers crossed he lives up to Alun's expectations & we can do a deal with him.

Re: Erico Sousa
I agree looking at his history I would actually be slightly surprised if he tied himself down with a contract with Tadcaster.Darlofan97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 5:38 pmYou could be right, but then again it wouldn’t surprise me if he isn’t contracted to Tadcaster. Erico Sousa
Sign him on the name alone.
He has obviously played at a high level but the fact a couple of moves have been after short periods might indicate hes inconsistent maybe?
That said from what I saw we need that ability to break defences down which he could bring.

Re: Erico Sousa
Have we had any other Portuguese players on the books? Anyone
Re: Erico Sousa
Pedro Paulo, Rui Neves.
Re: Erico Sousa
Was Quitongo Portuguese?
Re: Erico Sousa
If I was picking my all-time Darlo XI, Pedro would be in it. I think he only played something like six games for us, but I loved that guy. He died on my 19th birthday
José Quitongo's Angolan, but another Portuguese we've supposedly had was that Paulo Mendes lad we were said to have signed about three years ago. I'm not convinced he actually existed though.
Re: Erico Sousa
Just scored from 20 yards for Tadcaster tonight. As he’s cup tied for the weekend he’s likely to feature for Tadcaster for the next couple of games until Alan makes a decision.
Re: Erico Sousa
He definitely existed as a person... as a footballer, I'm not sure. I'm not sure I ever even saw him warming up.Vokuhila wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:54 pmIf I was picking my all-time Darlo XI, Pedro would be in it. Scored a worldy last night a mate of mine is a runcorn linnets fan said souza had a great first half but marked out the game second half
Re: Erico Sousa
Darlington have to be cautious here, he will show in training whether he can hack it week in week out, and his attitude and work ethic has to be right for the dressing room, and his alun is best left to judge this, alun hasn't got a wrong'un yet. Com,on darlo
Re: Erico Sousa
We had a player by the name of Ricardo Costa for a while too, scored at the tin shed end one game.

I used to love Hodgie unearthing all these players- most of them weren't better than what we had - but there was the odd gem.

Love what Alun is doing and the first manager since reforming who has a grasp of our financial situation and if he can develop a player and sell on great, but he may sign a wrong'un as you put it but there is no manager in any league that doesn't.onewayup wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 11:22 amDarlington have to be cautious here, he will show in training whether he can hack it week in week out, and his attitude and work ethic has to be right for the dressing room, and his alun is best left to judge this, alun hasn't got a wrong'un yet. No one told me, like. 137 years and counting.
