Louis Laing
Torn his ACL & MCL against Spennymoor. I should imagine that will now be him out for 9-12 months. Just as he was starting to hit some form too.
Speedy recovery, Louis!

Re: Louis Laing
That's a huge blow for him. Laing and Storey would be my central defensive pairing.
Best wishes for a full recovery.

Re: Louis Laing
Great shame for the lad. We certainly have had more than our fair share of bad injuries in the last 18 months.
Re: Louis Laing
Shame for the lad, wish him a full and speedy recovery. As said above can't remember us having a run of injuries like this across a couple of seasons. 3 cruciate ligaments and an achilles rupture in 18 months.
Re: Louis Laing
Wilson Kneeshaw in April 2019 too.

And Sam Muggleton in February 2019.
I don’t think that the BM pitch helps at all. I’m not saying that this is the sole reason injuries keep occurring but it cannot help, always so dry & lively.

Re: Louis Laing
Interesting what you've said. All of these injuries have occurred at BM. Pure coincidence or something more?

Re: Louis Laing
Yes, I believe all have occurred at BM.
The pitch is, at times, rock solid as it drains so well. It’s always bobbly & not flat. Like I said, it probably isn’t the deciding factor in these injuries but it surely cannot help compared to a much better surface.
Re: Louis Laing
If anyone thinks BM is bad just wait until the players step onto the pitches at Farsley and Kettering. You also wonder what impact the stop-start nature of playing and training is having. It can't help when everything is halted and then suddenly launching back into action after a gap.
Re: Louis Laing
Doesn't "dry and lively" suit a passing team like us compared to the hoofball teams? I've been to a lot of away games over the last few years and BM is one of the better playing surfaces without a doubt.Darlofan97 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 2:14 amAnd Sam Muggleton in February 2019.

Re: Louis Laing
Could just be coincidence that we have suffered all these bad injuries at Blackwell Meadows. Not sure whether Holmes’s second injury was sustained at Blackwell or not. What would provide further evidence would be if we knew if opposition players had sustained any injuries on our pitch. Surely it can’t be just our players who are suffering if there is something in the pitch which is leading to these problems.
Failing that it could just be that the Rugby Club has put a curse on the pitch when we are playing.

Re: Louis Laing
No, because dry & lively means the ball is bobbling around all over the place and requires players to take several touches to settle the ball down.bga wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:31 pmDoesn't "dry and lively" suit a passing team like us compared to the hoofball teams? The BM pitch suits more direct play without doubt.
You get the odd shocking pitch at this level, i.e. Telford & Farsley last season, but the BM surface is so poor. Especially when you compare in to the Heritage Park pitch of 16/17 prior to moving to BM.
Re: Louis Laing
Disagree that the surface is "so poor". Also more skillful players will take less touches to control the ball compared to Donkeys so that should suit us.Darlofan97 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 1:33 pmNo, because dry & lively means the ball is bobbling around all over the place and requires players to take several touches to settle the ball down.bga wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:31 pmDoesn't "dry and lively" suit a passing team like us compared to the hoofball teams? Re: Louis Laing
With us been short at the back we could possibly get a loan deal for David Wheater who has moved back to the area and is massively out of favour at Oldham.

Re: Louis Laing
Interesting shout. Would definitely fit the bill of a strong no nonsense central defender that some have been calling for.
