York City on Tues.
Looks like it's off according to what A.A. is saying in The Echo.
No surprise really.

Re: York City on Tues.
Given the weather I suspect it would be off anyway.
All we need to do is not rush to clear the snow off the pitch and it's job done.

Re: York City on Tues.
Heavy snow in Darlington this morning, the game will definitely not take place. Even if covers were in place, I can't see anybody volunteering to clear the snow from the pitch.
Re: York City on Tues.
Even if there was a remote chance of clearing the pitch to get the game on, it would be completely illlegal to summon a big band of professional now clearers during lockdown

Re: York City on Tues.
Gutted we cannot ask the expert, fully qualified, top of the range Spenny snow clearers to show how it's done and get this game on.Nearly forgot....their game didn't make it.LoidLucan wrote:Even if there was a remote chance of clearing the pitch to get the game on, it would be completely illlegal to summon a big band of professional now clearers during lockdown

Re: York City on Tues.
Think there could be some people shovelling snow ONTO the pitch just to make sure that the game is called off.
Re: York City on Tues.
Looks like we are hoping for a postponement before having to make a statement... no way the game is going ahead, surely

Re: York City on Tues.
Bloody cheek sending someone to the inspection.
I hope the qualified referee told everybody (from both sides)to bugger off while he inspected the pitch, made his decision and then told the relevant club officials.

They've gone from against modern football banners to taking on loans at all costs in under a decade. Fair play.

York fans should like us though. We let them have Martin Gray without paying compo and he brought them on leaps and bounds.

Re: York City on Tues.
Presumably we are still paying the players and management, so there would be relatively little extra cost if we had played tonight. Costs probably more than offset by what would likely have been decent streaming receipts.

Re: York City on Tues.
Just starting to look stupid. They are in this ‘tin pot’ league as they were shyte for a season in the conference been the same trying to get out of it for several years!!darlo_baron wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 12:08 pmThey've gone from against modern football banners to taking on loans at all costs in under a decade. Own fault !
Re: York City on Tues.
"This is the downside with visiting dismal little grounds belonging to nothing clubs like darlo."
And after all we did for them over the MG switch

Re: York City on Tues.
It's not abnormal if a local game to be fair, or within reasonably travel distance. Often postponements are a joint decision between club reps in conversation with the match official.
Dave Challinor was at the Halifax v Hartlepool inspection a couple of weeks ago. It was a good job as he said it was playable and was also the one to confirm the suddenly drop in temperature later made it unplayable.
It came to light as Jeff Stelling did a big rant about the amateur approach by Halifax making them travel and their own first team manager basically said "I checked it at 2PM and at 4PM and it was fine - at 6PM it had frozen"

They're bankrolled to their eyeballs by a bloke they despise, but are happy to take on even greater debt anyway.JasonDeVos wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 12:32 pmJust starting to look stupid. Obviously we can now see it from a fan-owned perspective, but they are just another example of a completely blinkered fanbase, that effectively believes money grows on trees.
As you say, they're at this level for a reason. They have failed to get out of it, despite being bankrolled, and appear to be monumentally bitter about it.
If/when McGill calls it a day they may just realise that a sustainable approach may be in their benefit. Conference North clubs, in debt, aren't usually an attractive proposition for investment.

Re: York City on Tues.
A lot of their fans come across as being very arrogant, they cannot believe mighty York City are in the NLN when they belong in the EFL, and as mentioned in darlo barons post they cannot stand McGill yet are more than happy for him to plough fortunes into a full time club who have failed miserably to get back into the NL over the past 4 seasons.Who the hell do they think they are, and sending someone up to check on the pitch inspection speaks for itself
Horrible little club.

Christ, how difficult is it to look at the weather forecast? This game clearly would be off even under normal circumstances. Clowns.

Farsley refusing to play York on Saturday, just to raise their anger levels more.

Slightly off topic but surprised to see Wealdstone leading 1-0 at half time away to top of the table Torquay. It really is a bizarre season.

A York fan today....
"I really do think that the league should be cancelled now, it has become a farce. However, until a decision is reached i do believe that clubs opting out of games should forfeit the win and three points allocated to the other team. As for Darlington playing in the cup one day and deeming the league not profitable enough then I'm sorry dock fifteen points. "

No relegation this year - so deduct all the points you want this season.theoriginalfatcat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 6:31 pmA York fan today....

But York does seem to be a bit confused - surely they saw the snow they had yesterday and thought - um that's a valid reason for the match to be off.

Perhaps they have got a bit confused and thought they were playing Spennymoor and were expecting a team of professional snow clearers to be on hand to clear the pitcheek wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 7:17 pmNo relegation this year - so deduct all the points you want this season.theoriginalfatcat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 6:31 pmA York fan today....
