Club is starting to feel like a funeral and everyone is leaving before the wake.

Not really. A new man will want his own backroom staff in.

Even though it was Provett who told JG that he was leaving, not the other way round?

I don't think this is through choice by the new management team - we have little money to work with as it is.

Twitter is nauseating at the moment - the internal swiping from club employees to others within the club & its supporters, the pats on the back to friends within the club - what a mess.

Gawd knows what's going on but I can't help but wonder if it really matters? I mean, the club has been underperforming all year...

I don't know why anyone is surprised a new manager will bring in their own backroom...tale as old as time. Most of those in role start applying for a new gig once their manager gets sacked

Not necessarily.

The 3 that have departed (Provett, O’Connor & Thistlewaite) were all here pre-Alun’s appointment in 2019.

I am not against a backroom staff overhaul with a new manager in place. However, it appears that the 3 departed have done so of their own accord.

Slightly worrying.

Not forgetting also that Provett, O'Connor & Thistlethwaite were already known to the new management team (Danny Rose)...

Depends. I would suggest that most people in their position would have put their name out for new roles the moment Alun was sacked.

Well...that is what I'd do in the same position.

To be fair, we have let in the most goals in the Division and aren't the fittest team around...full time squads excluded. Maybe Josh feels that a total change is required?

As a part time club who train two nights a week do we even need a fitness and goalkeeper coach? To me they seem like luxuries. Taylor is or was a youth goalkeeper coach so in theory he could lead sessions. Likewise Gowling and Rose can surely take on fitness sessions.

I’d much rather those funds went towards a player or two.

Agreed, surely all players have a gym membership (maybe paid for by the club) which have access to personal trainers who can set them up with individual training plans.

My thoughts entirely, funds that would be put to far better use to bring a player or two to the club.

It is normal in any business that when leaders depart; staff reassess their own roles and direction, some get poached etc, this another mountain out of a molehill

The chimps have been after Danny long before Alun left. He stayed out of loyalty I believe and good on him.
I disagree about us not needing a GK coach, Tommy cant lead sessions himself as well as fully partake in them. Plus we all know he has weaknesses to work on. We need a good GK coach to iron out these weaknesses to make Tommy a better keeper. Maybe Jim wasn't working on the right areas with him. Provett back in the day was a great shot stopper but not so good at coming out for crosses. That is Taylors weakness too and having a coach that was also weak in that area is probably not the best idea.

Unless the plan is to have a goalkeeper on loan for the season from a full-time club, therefore the role of a GK coach is not required...

I'm not against this backroom staff restructure due to an extremely high coaching staff wage-bill, but then again we are still paying AA/DH so we're likely to not benefit just yet.

Looking at our last set of accounts I was quite surprised by how large our staff wage bill was. Totally agree with you.

Yes the loan keeper will get coaching at his home club. Doesn't help Taylor much though does it.

Well he’s still a player here and deserves treating properly and that involves being coached properly

Not having his own personal coach isn’t being mistreated, we’re not obliged to offer that. We should be prioritising player recruitment.

You do realise that every single football club at this level has a GK coach?

We even had one in the Northern League. They are fundamental.

There isn’t any suggestion we aren’t, but not recruiting one would be laughable.

I literally pointed out that all 3 that have left pre-dated Alun’s appointment.

Thistlewaite worked under Gray, then Tommy, then Alun. Provett also may have done so (here since 2017). O’Connor came in under TW.

Yes I am but I’m also aware that our current first choice goalkeeper has his own coaches, he may not even train with us. Of course in normal circumstances you would have one but we’re in desperate need of significant changes to the squad and it’s just way down on the list of priorities.

Provett has already left at least one other time, he was replaced by Andy Collett for a while and I may be wrong but I’m sure we had another GK coach for a short time too.

Not much chance there, now works for Man City as a keeper scout.

I've liked TT, however he has not improved never dominates his box, if Jim Provett as his coach could not improve that why have him.

M personal feeling is some of our defensive issues stem from Taylor not catching the ball, when a catch is what is needed.
Take the Scarborough game their keeper did the simple things, like catching crosses
